SmartTop Module and Folding Mirrors (perhaps coding?)

SmarrtTop module is a godsend. For those who have a cabriolet, GET THIS! Remote and one-touch top operations cannot be beat. The quality is awesome and the name is a proven brand!

With that out of the way, the issue that I am having is that I want to be able to trigger the folding/unfolding of side view mirrors with the rest of the closing and opening functions.

Here are some specifics:

- the Smarttop module used for F23 is the same one used for F12 6-series soft top convertible.

- the module has folding/unfolding mirrors for ONLY the F12 and not the F23 (as per SmartTop this is a technical issue that never got sorted).

- I have Comfort Access in my F23. I have coded the "repositioning seats" and folding mirrors.

- I can fold/unfold my mirrors from the remote. I can even close the top along with, or without, the smarttop at close range. Good stuff.

- what smarttop does is give me massive range to do the opening and closing functions with the remote.

- PROBLEM: with the smarttop I can open and close the car with the roof functions at a massive range. However I cannot fold/unfold the mirrors.

What could be a potential solution? I want to trigger the folding/unfolding of the mirrors with the locking and unlocking of the car, regardless of the method employed (smarttop or CA or what have you).

I hope I make sense. Appreciate all input as all of this coding is grey territory. Thank you in advance!

P.s. posted in the wrong sub forum before, disregard the post in the B58 Tuning sub forum. Asked the mods to remove it.

Yes, I have used BimmerCode. That's how I got the mirrors to fold/unfold in the first place.

How can I trigger long range folding of the mirrors?

You may think this is a smart ass answer and I am as I write this but you can gain upwards of 30' by holding the key dongle against the underside of your chin. I thought it was hilarious when a buddy of mine told me this, especially when he called it brain power, and then I lost $10 when he unlocked the car door about 10 yards further away from the point where it had stopped working. With this post it probably appears I have tried this technique too many times.

Dude this totally makes sense! Your head cavities actually act as resonance chambers for the damn RF signal!!

That's right, our heads are hidden amplifiers and of course beacons of truth.

I have used my key-fob from 200 feet (known distance, not guessing) to open the windows, close the windows, lock the car and fold the mirrors (visual indication that it's locked since I have the lights and sounds turned off). I've never tried it at a distance greater than that; never needed to.

What kind of range are you looking for?

Thank you Harma, is your car Euro spec? Mine is US spec and I had to code in the folding mirrors. Before smarttop module, like other US spec users, I couldn't open and close the windows/roof/mirrors unless I was standing less than 5 feet from the car.

With the smart top module I can do all of the above at 200 feet as well, with the exception of the folding mirrors. My question was, can I code in something to rectify that and have the mirror fold at a distance as well?

However I am surprised to learn that you could do all that at such a great distance without a smarttop module or any modification.

Also would be helpful if you can tell me year and model as well as the body type

My car is US spec. It's been so long, I honestly don't remember what I had to code and what I didn't; I coded a lot when I got my car! But aside from possibly coding folding mirrors, I use nothing other than a stock car, a stock key fob and line-of-sight.
