Broken belt engine damage
Are our N55 engines subject to broken belt engine failure like the M54?
Is there a retrofit or fix to prevent? (I've seen a protective plate on line for the 335i) Thanks |

My last car, a 2013 F30 with N55 engine had zero issues with the serpentine belt after 5.5 years.

Not too sure but on my n54 two years ago, mine snapped because my motor mounts were shot and some sort of pump pulley hit the subframe. Check your motor mounts.

auto belt tensioner failure had happened on the n20. depends who you talk to, but if there's a jiggle at idle, you should replace the tensioner. $30 part. worth it.
