Have you tried Lightweight? Mine seems pretty indestructible.

Damn. I've had mine for 1.5 years and barely a scuff.

No I don't mean a style - there's a manufacturer. It's a single piece lip that affixes to the bottom of the car no wings covering the sides. Cat at IND can source for you - and the sticker is removable.

Is it held in place by existing screws or is a double stick tape deal?

This seems to be the same sort of lip but $400 for a flat bottom section is way too expensive in my opinion.

It's all screws. You remove the two stock center screws from the car and replace with two longer ones in splitter kit so it goes splitter / spacer / car. Then from center you work your way out with self tapping screws every - I don't know - 8" perhaps. It's very solid.

It's not cheap but it's gloss and doesn't require paint and is very durable. Figured $$$ once better than $ multiple times.

With my steep driveway entrance, and plenty of other places, there is no way I would put a carbon fiber or even plastic splitter on my car. It wouldn't last a week. Heck, the bottom horns of the existing bumper are probably 1/4" worn off.

I would like to see something indestructible I could mount like splitter. Like steel plate. And with a spring mounting to the undercarriage so that it can take some shock. Screws to the plastic fascia would just rip out.

I've seen some 'skid plate' type splitters for other BMW's, but nothing like that for our 2's. And they were all just screw mounts I'd be afraid would rip out.

I looked the links earlier in thread, but the sites don't actually say what these are made from. Looks metal, but could just be some thick RFP plastic.

you don't get it... a rhino liner wont help, all it will do is make it heavy.

The lip either hits in the front which causes it to stop, but the 3800lb car to keep going which rips it from the bottum bolts and rips apart at the fangs.

Another way it can break is from too much downforce, will rip it right off the car, or blow it up and over the car as done on the NJTpk.

Another way is hitting the cememnt parking things at 7-11 or a bank. It happens to all of us.

As you can see, aint shit rhino liner going to do here man. Just find some cheap options and buy 2x at a time.

I’d like to know how you guys are driving. Is this on track or are you guys simply chasing curbs to crash/park into? I got mine professionally installed and it’s been going strong, no need for adhesive tapes etc, all bolted on. But it becomes less to do about the installation or quality of these splitters if you are, quote “hitting the cement parking things at 7-11 or a bank”. 5 splitters a year? that’s excessive. Maybe you should just be a little more conscious of how low the car is sitting when you drive.

I was going down a plaza parking structure that was 1 lane wide and steep. They decided to put a speed bump right at the bottom where the steep driveway ends. With no way to angle, my lip bent and tore off the oem piece it was attached to. Lip lasted me about a year before this incident. I've learned to avoid certain places that I know will cause problems. Unfortunately, this plaza structure was a new place I've never been to. I'm debating leaving the lip off at this point it is quite a hassle to always worry about it.

Installed this carbon fiber lip on Saturday. Used factory holes and screws on bottom of bumper. Fits really well.
