Orange Climate Control lighting*HELP*
I am looking into a 2107 M240. There is one with a manual for sale that I am interested in. I noticed that the climate control lighting is orange. I thought BMW changed to white CC lighting in 2016? I raised a red flag in my brain when I saw the picture.
What do you think? TIA |

Hi,
The only part that has changed color is the instrument cluster as it became a hybrid between digital and analog. The rest still uses the orange light philosophy that BMW is known for. If the AC is automatic during daylight the display will show the temperature values in white but if there is no sufficient light for the sensor than the display will show the values in orange. But the backlighting to all other buttons are still orange. |

I appreciate the response. I understand that most of the backlighting for the buttons is orange. I am referring to the temp numbers on the climate control. This car is apparently a 2017. Is it supposed to be orange or white. Even the 2016 M235is I have seen from other dealers have the temp numbers in white. I am thinking maybe the car has had the climate control system switched out?
Anyone? Marc |

It depends on the light as Omera mentioned. At night, those numbers are orange. In the daylight, they are white. That may be flip flopped... I can't picture it off the top of my head . Same story goes for the needles on the instrument cluster gauges.

I don't quite understand the problem. Is OP concerned that the orange color of the numerals is a sign of some deeper problem? Could it be the work of the deep state?

I have a 2017 M240i. The climate control display is white during the day and orange at night.

LOL. Yeah pretty much.I guess what I am wondering is can you change the color of the instrumentation from orange to white in the Idrive system or such? That would explain the inconsistency.
I don't think I am explain my question properly. In your case, you have a 2015 m235ix. Is the color of the temperature numbers on your climate control and the color of the bottom center of your gauge cluster (i.e. Outside temp, clock, mileage and trip) white or orange? TIA Marc |

Bro the colors change depending on the lighting. If the car is in a garage or dark outside, the colors will be orange. If it is light outside the colors are white... If you're this concerned about the color of numbers and skeptical whether the HVAC controls have been replaced, you probably shouldn't be in the market for a used BMW. You'll never sleep again. If the controls had been replaced, it would be much more obvious other than the color of the readout...

^^^^^Thank you. That was the exact response I need and the reason I enjoy forums. I'm actually looking forward to owning my first BMW. I've been a Audi/VW guy for the past 10+ years. This'll be my first RWD car too. Apperently I have a lot to learn.
You have a great weekend, Sir |
