225xe iPerformance Active Tourer
225xe iPerformance Active Tourer
We could add even more to that lengthy title by stating it has eDrive, which tells us that this plug-in version of the BMW 2-Series Active Tourer has an electric drive system at the rear axle which joins forces with the vehicle's regular front-wheel drive configuration to form an electrified all-wheel drive configuration. The rear-mounted 65kW electric motor drives the rear wheels and allows an electric range of 41 km. Up front there is a high-revving three cylinder twin-turbocharged petrol engine which develops 100kW. The two drive systems can combine to give a systrem output of 165kW and peak torque of up to 385Nm - all of which enables the Active Tourer to accelerate to 100kmh in 6.7 seconds. Combined fuel consumption can be as low as 2.1 L/100km. The vehicle can charge its lithium-ion battery either by means of brake energy recuperation or when plugged into a domestic power socket where it can be charged from empty in three hours 15 minutes. If a public AC charging facility is used, a full charge from empty takes two hours 15 minutes. |

I have the 218d - only front-wheel drive and found that to be very good in the snow. It would be interesting to hear what the xe will be like in the snow but I shouldn't imagine that info is going to come from the OP who appears to be in New Zealand!!
