Thats map0 run shows how strong the b58 is stock though. N55 with downpipe on stock tune was right there the entire time until (what looked like) 6th hit then it started pulling.
When I had just the intake and JB4 (no downpipe) it was night and day on just map1. I didn't even get to try map2. HIGHLY recommend a JB4 tune. |

Wow, I'm surprised to see the 135i with Map 0 and a DP hanging so well on the topend and actually pulling as the speeds increased. With the JB4, that 135i really runs away from 140i instantly. It makes me wonder how close the two will be with comparable mods. I would hope the 140i would pull, but maybe not as hard as I originally thought.

DP adds a decent amount of power. Puts it right about the same as the 140i. Comparable mods, I think the 140i would still pull away from the 135i. May not walk away, but a slight pull ahead.

From what I've seen, a DP put the M235/135 at around 320whp/350wtq, with the powerband elevated around 10whp and 25wtq. In stock form, the M235/135 sees around 305-310whp and 320-330wtq, depending on tranny (6MTs being slightly higher). |

Exactly my point. The b58 is only rated 15hp over the n55.

Rated and what's reality are two different things with turbo BMWs In stock form, the B58 in the 340i/440i is putting down around 315whp/330wtq and is "rated" at 320hp/330tq. I have yet to see a dyno for the M240, but I would think it should put down around 330whp/360wtq in stock form given it's 335hp/379tq rating. Peak power isn't everything though. It's more about the shape of the powerband which the B58 does a bit better than the N55. I guess that's why it's surprising to me to see how well the M135i did in all the videos. Either way, both motors do really well with basic mods. In hotter weather, the B58 will excel because it can manage intake temps better.

Correct. There's some dunks of the 140i on the forums somewhere that I saw. Don't remember the numbers though. Don't think it was 360wtq though (369ctq factory rated). Was still strong though.

So when is your friend with the 140 getting a JB4?

Turns out the M135i in the video was using map 5 c/w Aral Ultimate 102 RON fuel. No wonder the stock M140i got walked all over.......
