How does Park Assist work (5DP)?

Anyone know how the option works on a 2020 M240i convertible? Will this thing park itself like I see in the BMW demo videos on youtube? The videos basically show the driver holding the park assist button down and letting the car do the parking. It seems to do both backing in and parallel parking.

I couldn't find a video specific to the F22/F23, so I'm wondering exactly how it works.

Thanks!

I am also curious. I never had the nerves to rely on this.

Unless it's an LCI-only option on the 2018+ MYs., I don't think the U.S. F22s were equipped with self parallel parking. I have a 2017 MY with both the Driver Assistance and Driver Assistance Plus packages - I tried every combination of button pressing, pulling up to a spot on the side of the road, etc. and nothing ever happened.

There is a tutorial video on board the car in the iDrive menu - that's how I even was made aware of this feature.

There are four pages on it in the owners manual for my 2021 vert. I did not order the option. Dumb as it was only an extra $100 for it. I thought it could be a SW upgrade but it adds 4 corner sensors to measure the potential parking spaces.

I have the same question especially because my 240 convertible is a 6M. I have no concept of how this could possibly work though it shows as an option on my build sheet.

Parking assist works like this in my '17 M240:
- I find a suitable parking space.
- I maneuver the car into the parking space.

I'll be dead before I let my car drive me. I don't even use cruise control. My right ankle does a pretty good job of maintaining a constant speed; I don't need to rely on anything else.

Unfortunately, it's that same right ankle that also has a nasty habit of opening the throttle fully and accelerating to speeds well above the posted speed limit, but...
