12v power outlets under the dash
On my 328i there is a power outlet on the passenger side front near the center console but under the glove box. On my m235i there a hole in the same location but no socket. Has anyone wired that location up and if so what parts did you use etc. Thanks.

I just checked mine and I have the hole but no outlet. I don't have the Tech package either though.

This has been discussed. 2-series cars do not get that outlet, and it is not pre-wired.

The reason the 2-series don't get the outlet is that they all come with the "Smoker's Package" as a standard item, which includes the lighter socket at the ashtray location. The wiring for that socket takes the harness that would go to the underdash location.
Let me guess, your 328i has the storage bin at the front of the console instead of the covered ashtray.

This was easy to recontent in my E90. My M235i is still making it's way across country so I don't know if I'm going to bother and if it's exactly the same. The parts likely are, but not sure if accessing the interior panel it goes into is similar (and you may want to route power differently).
Anyway, the DIY for how I did it on my E90 is here if anyone is interested: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=936294 |

12V socket under dash is a standalone option (option code 575).
I have it on my M235i. It was a 20€ option... It's not linked to 563 option code nor smoker package |
