Where have you seen confirmation that there is an M2 and that it will be 4 cylinder?

The last interview with Dr N stated a desire (not confirmation) to make an M2 and that if they did it would not be a 4 cylinder.

I really like the dimensions of this car. 4 series has gotten too big.

Not that many people care about this, but if I'm converting right (for an MT):

In town: 21.57 MPG
Highway: 36.75 MPG
Combined: 29 MPG

Obviously I know this is different than the way the US measures I'm sure, but still pretty nice for a car with that kind of performance. Numbers like these stick out when you drive a V8 M3

This'll be the one guys. . . this'll be the one. . .
This is the one we've all been waiting for. The F32 can take a back seat.

Dr N... Used a phrase I myself have to keep repeating ...

"Not tomorrow" The M2 is not coming " Tomorrow" either which is why it conforms to an M car in the next couple of years but thinking logically.

It is not one many of you are expecting well , tomorrow.

From a financial point of view it's clear why BMW doesn't want to launch faster this M2

So we can prob expect around $43,000 base price here given the comparison to other base models. Which would make sense, price it around the outgoing 135is.

I just wish we could get a shot at the M135i, A45 AMG, RS3 and other forbidden hatchback fruit.

I guess it depends on how the M4 and the M235i are received, right? Or BMW wants to make profit out of the M4 and the 4 series first big time?

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I will take it 4 or 6 cylinder but I already have owned an E30M3 so certainly an S20 as a 4 cyl would be an awesome throwback and would be a lot more in tune as a car that is reminiscent of the E30M3.

Those lusting for a 6 should go drive an N 20 with an 8 speed.... And consider the possibilities of an S20 4 cyl turbo mated to a 7 speed manual or 8 speed DCT that is much lighter in weight than the M4 and potentially close to the weight of the e30m3 in that it will be under 3000 lbs ? With carbon fiber used for roof and other items it could potentially near the 2865 of the E30 M3. It would also directly compete with the r32, and merc cla and Audi offerings while also being an upscale option to the EVO, STI crowd as well.

As Scott referenced, a car that would not be here tomorrow. Tomorrow is the M3/M4. I am eagerly awaiting. " The Day After" as the M2!

Why the M2 would be a 4 cylinder if the M235i is 6.
Makes no sense IMHO
E30 M3 was I4 all while the 325i/e was an I6.

I love how everyone is going on about how its a shame if it doesnt come with an LSD. The last non M car to be equiped with an LSD was when??? It will probably be a performance parts option.

So they wont have an excuse to delay an M2 I think I prefer it not have an LSD. This is NOT and M car and we need and M2 to destroy with the upcoming RS3 and current CLS45 AMG. I want full out M treatment...flares, wheels, the whole package.

With that said - this car is going to be excellent

This. I'm starting to wonder about the M2 though. The idea of a somewhat special 6 cylinder engine is totally out of the game. The 235i has as 6 and the M3 has a 6 so the best we can hope for is a tuned N55...sigh.

I really hope it doesnt get some highly tuned 4 cylinder.

I really miss N/A options.

Awesomeness...

I remember the build-up to the debut of the 135i, I was so on board to get one, and then when I saw it in person, I wasn't quite the same fan (this doesn't include the 1M, I would sell my soul and my mother for 1).

I'm excited (again) for the 2er as there should be a 2er GC right behind it. I think the 135i didn't quite appeal to me in person because when push comes to shove, I still prefer a 4-door car.

Lets hope we get real M2's and M2 GC's too! I'm still 4.5 years from purchasing my next BMW, so I've got plenty of time to wait and see the whole 2er story unfold.

So it's either an S20 or an S55? the S55 is already used in the M4, so I think BMW is gonna push through with the S20
