So M235i is 40 kilos lighter than 1M, has significantly smaller tires, open diff and down on power again compared to 1M. So what is this guy talking about???

There's no way, even with that diff!

http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=879274

Very disappointing!

The link from OP is no longer directing to anything 2 series related. The page was probably taken down.
still works click on car configurator then 2 series

You didn't honestly believe any of that buildup hype marketing bullshit did you........

As I have fully expected for months now, the M235 will be the same a M135 but just in a coupe body,
......so, electric steering (and if you've driven a M135 already you'll know poor that is compared with a E82 135i) and no DCT option only the ZF auto.
I'm sure the LSD will appear on the dealer fit M performance accessories list, but that will be a likely very expensive option being a complete exchange unit because of the welded diff....as already mentioned.

I can't see anything about the M235 to get me that excited.

Imo A mech LSD does more to a sporty rwd car than >50BHP or minus 50 or 100kg does(at this weight)

(M2, but Dear God not a 4 cylinder please!)

Why the M2 would be a 4 cylinder if the M235i is 6.
Makes no sense IMHO

So there is a chance the M2 will be a 4 cylinder? It kind of makes sense when you look at the Mercedes CLA45 AMG. 2.0 4cyl turbo (355 HP / 322 lb-ft). So it would make sense, but still be terribly disappointing nonetheless. At least the M2 would have a rear wheel drive and LSD advantage ... for now.

Well, ... YEAH! You clearly caught them off guard! This car is clearly not ready to go live on a configurator. These are the moments that keep car enthusiasts coming back to forums for. Very nice job Anodite, and thanks for sharing this info!

I am pretty sure this was a test of some sorts for the configuration before going live next month, but it looks like someone forgot to make it private or what not. Nice catch dude!

I bet Jason is somewhere scratching his head, not being sure how to handle this.

So a bit shorter than E46 M3, with a wider stance front and rear. I am liking this very much.

Great! Thanks!

VERY happy they kept the N55 for the M235i (as it appears from this leaked reveal).

Pretty sure it will be standard on the M235i. We will have to wait for further confirmation.

Possibly not a very smart question, but are mechanical LSD and xDrive mutually exclusive options?

If I understand your question correctly: Yes they are.

They are 2 different options/things. I don't think the M235i will come standard with a mech lsd but I HOPE it will be an option (just like on the F30/32 335/435 from now on)

Anyway, if the M2 gets a 4 cylinder with at least 340BHP(because the A45 AMG already has 360 out of 2 litres) and gets a weight more near 1350 than 1400kgs, I'm sold as well

Cheers

Why not, it's not like BMW haven't done it before.

E30 M3 was a 4 cyl, and top of the line sporty non-M was the six cylinder 323i.

If the M2 gets a 4 cil then most will buy a M235i and put the wide body panels, wheels and LSD from the M2 on it.

I don t think ///M would like it that way.

I am sure it will drive well but why does the design have to be so boring. Other than the i8 BMW just seems to turn out bland designs these says. M helps but they could do a lot better. Come on BMW stop this nonsense of the accountants running things and give us design in line with your Motorsport heritage.

My wife buys BMW coupes but has looked at the pictures of the 2 series and said not for her as just not enough flair in the design.
