I also wanted to wait for the Akrapovic but there isn't a certain release date and the 240 really needs the improvement in the exhaust. The B58 engine is too quiet...

I already have the diffuser and the chrome tips

Was really just waiting for the exhaust to install them all together, tempted to drive down to Germany if they have one available haha

If I decide to install the diffuser and the chrome tips now, there shouldn't be any problems installing the exhaust later on, right?

I checked the BMW installation guide and the diagrams show cuts on the original muffler and that confused me a little bit.. Does the MPE not require cut or do both require a cut

If anyone can help me, this is the diagram

The diagram you posted it for the Tail pipe extensions using the stock exhaust with the new diffuser. The tail pipes will not fit the MPE.

Familiarize yourself with the pictures posted previously. The stock exhaust is cut at the dimple location (provided by bmw) on the exhaust PIPE. the MPE will then be connected into this location (male / female connection) the overlap is VERY generous.. so your cut does not have to be perfect.

The MPE will have larger exhaust TIPS openings and will only allow part number

Carbon Tailpipe Finisher 18302355889
Chrome tailpipe finisher 18302354364
M Performance Silencer 18302424608 (MPE Muffler)

I have these :Chrome tailpipe finisher 18302354364

I was under the impression these could be installed without MPE, also because they are the only OEM tailpipe offered

Will it fit the M performance Diffuser? That's the only important question for me at the moment

Yesterday i installed the MPE in the M240i. I noticed a change in the tone of the exhaust sound but it's not significant. Maybe a little richer but not loud as the M235i MPE.

And the most important thing is this engine DOES NOT pop like the M235i under any circunstances or driving modes.

So i feel dissapointed with the car....

BMW really fucked this car with the B58 engine. No pops and tots, no burping sound, no blow off valve sound, quiet exhaust....

I read in Youtube BMW released a first version of MPE for 435i, named #339, that replaced, one year later, with the louder #340 MPE... Is this possible ?

PS: The performance feels the same.

I wasn't very impressed with the video's of the exhaust to be honest

Heard too that there was a big difference between two variations of the mpe for 4series, this might have been a rush job

In all fairness from what I've heard the gargle are still there, imo only difference between stock and mpe is the blow off valve

Try going catless if you really are not impressed

It seems like there are so many that like the MPE exhaust on the M240i. The more and more I drive with it, the more I am starting to live with it. I do miss the screaming sound of a louder more complete exhaust (e.g. Akrapovic) but it seems like BMW really wanted conservative this time around. The loudest my car ever really gets and is noticeable is at idle and cold start. I think I'll give the MPE about 1K miles to break in and if it isn't noticeably louder, I'm going to swap it out.

I just hit 1K with my MPE installed. It definitely is louder now that the packing is broken in a bit. I still think there is more given the fact that I can still smell it a bit after driving. Overall, I'm happy with it. But then again, I'm more of wanted to empress with speed than sound.

How odd. I don't smell anything. Then again, I live in LA with lots of smog and I drive through Inland Empire every morning to work (fertilizer smells) so I might be immune to bad smells.

Yes, I am having to get mine installed at the dealer and have to get them separately. I know for the M235 you get a combo that included MPE and Diffuser. Do you know if we can do that for the M240. I was told no by my dealer but that doesn't make it true...lol.

It would be great if Dinan_Engineering could tell us more about the new developments for the M240i besides the Dinantronics Sport.

Are you planning to sell the midpipe and exhaust for the M240i ??

The results in terms of sound of the 340's B58 with Dinan midpipe and even stock exhaust are amazing !

Exhaust and resonator delete and/or midpipe for the M240i are planned. Will potentially have more info on that late next week after we've had a chance to play around with a development car. Ultimately Dinan's offering for the M240i will mimic what is currently available for the M235i (minus the intercooler) and possible a few other items that Dinan traditionally hasn't done. At least that's the plan.
