Inadvertently used a water repellent windwhield washer fluid

Poured a full gallon in on top of regular blue, now I'm worried about my pump as this crap is a big no no for BMWs. On top of that it didnt mix with the original BMW blue and now my windshield is a streaky mess. How do i get this out? Just run the pumps until empty? I think the resevoir is at least 3 gallons full and it's pretty much maxed.

Get a hand pump from the auto parts store, get as much out of the reservoir as you can, and fill with the correct fluid.

Put a hose in the reservoir and turn on the tap til the overflow turns clear. Then run the pump til empty to clear out what's lefts in the pump/lines. Then refill with whatever u want.

We all make mistakes and If it were me, I would call my service advisor and let my dealer handle it so there aren't any future issues with the pump.

You think one bucket will ruin it? Maybe try sticking a water hose in the reservoir and pumping water into it so it overflows? Just a thought.

Yeah idk, there are horror stories out there for other models and the tanks/motors are expensive and impossible to get to. Unfortunately there is no room to stick a hose in there is some kind of plastic at the top that blocks anything but liquids. I've been just running it a couple of times a day and then adding water. Should be all out in a week maybe.

What about disconnecting the individual lines from the nozzles? Not sure how accessible those are.

I would just run it through the nozzles. I doubt one fill up will screw anything. Reading older posts it's always been an accumulation over time.

Usually it is when it gums up over time in the inlet gromet/filter in my experience...

Pumping it out or disconnecting a line would be best if it is full. It will take a while to have the pump drain it all with the washer pump and you will be putting some extra minutes on the pumps that often fail.

Note: If you have headlight washers you can just disconnect the line that goes to the headlight washer and it will all drain out quickly...

I always used the RainX fluid in my cars. After reading this post, I asked one of my former service advisors and he agreed with this post, at least for Porsche's. WTF!

I have heard that people often add a 50/50 mix of distilled water and isopropyl alcohol to an empty washer reservoir to break down the gunk. Methanol (Heat drygas) or vodka can also work in order of aggressiveness...

Note that drygas or cheap vodka also work to winterize washer fluid when taking hot climate cars to cold climates where it isn't legal to sell the winter version of washer fluid...

The washer reservoirs are a pain to access. At least on the E90 it isn't as bad as the E70 where you have to punch out and replace POM rivets to remove the fender flares to get to the reservoir... For a while my e70 X5 had the front and rear washer outputs crossed up so the back and front washer controls were backwards. Very annoying but not as bad as actually pulling the fender flare to fix it. Eventually I fixed it when I changed the headlight lenses and had to remove the flares for that...
