Michelin PS4S/BMW OEM specific?
Perusing for tires - for my 2015 228i, the OEM was a BMW-specific model of the PSS (rear 245/35 18" I think).
I was just going to get the generic PS4S to replace, but perusing tire rack, the G42 230i uses the 19" PS4S in a BMW OEM compound....I wonder if it's possible to get the BMW specific compound in 245/35 18" size? Or no dice? |

If you contact Tire Rack, they can probably answer any questions you might have in this regard. I'd start with what they think the practical difference is between the two compounds.
Note that in 245/35-18 the Star BMW-spec PSS has a tread width of 9.2" and the generic PS4S one of 8.4". Depending upon what you're after, that could argue for choosing the PSS. Had I known this before I bought a set of four 255/35-18 generic PS4S' with tread widths of 8.8", I might well have gone with four PSS' in 245/35-18. For sure I would have discussed it with the Rack first.
