F22 - Quad Projectors?
I noticed that a BMW tutorial on board the car demonstrated what appears to be the Euro version of the F22's headlights. It showed that when the auto high beams function is engaged (Driver Assistance Plus package), when oncoming traffic gets closer, the high beams will automatically part to the side so they don't blind other drivers.
I have the Driver Assistance Plus package, but the headlights don't do that. They just turn high beams on/off based on the sensor. More importantly though, it looks like the inner projectors that are useless in the NA F22s are actually functional in the Euro versions. Can anyone confirm that the LCI Euro F22 headlights have functional quad projectors? I've been wanting to have quads again just for visibility purposes, and would consider replacing them with OE LCI Euro headlights if they've already got them vs. going aftermarket and getting price-gouged. |

The issue with euro headlights is the cutoffs are usually on the wrong side for US drivers. While I agree we should have absolutely gotten quad beams since they're designed that way, instead of the dummy lens... you'd be blinding oncoming drivers AND not putting light where you actually want it.
Granted, you might be able to open them up and modify or flip the cutoff shields... but is that really a risk you want to take after dumping several thousands on different lights? |

Left hand drive Euro headlights, have a different cut off but it's not on the wrong side, I ran Euro headlights in my VW and it was a major upgrade.

Not exactly what you were asking, but if you have the hardware you can add the headlight ducking, tunnel, etc… Definitive Guide to recode/remove S5AP and S8S4 https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1789826

Considering how miniscule the cost of a Xenon bulb is vs. the car, I'd love to have quads in front. But it is not happening in the 2 series.

Even my 2004 E46 had only xenon (Hi/Low) in the outer projector while the inner light was an incandescent, flash to pass. So no quad driving down the road.

Not a problem for me. I had quads in my old E46 and that meant x4 Osram CBIs - and those were D2S, not the F22's D1S. But they never needed to be replaced.
I have the stock headlights now but with the D1S Osram CBIs and while they're adequate, more light down the road never hurt. I guess more custom work it is. |
