KW DDC Coilovers

Hi everyone,

I recently got my DDC KW's shipped after buying them in early April. Such a long wait! I've only been able to drive on them for a few hundred miles and will be taking a road trip to Laguna seca this weekend to push them on track. I'm hoping to come back and give a review once I get more seat time with them.

First impressions: Comfort mode feels like a boat floating around a lake. It is by far the most significant change out of all the EDC modes. Sport and Sport+ are definitely more aggressive and "bouncy", but I love it. Tons of feedback from the road and the lowered ride height has helped with cornering as well. I know these aren't cheap, but I've made big mistakes with budget coils on previous cars and maintaining EDC control from the OEM controls was a must for me.

Thanks for the review

Ive got a 17 vert. Been considering these also. Did you install yourself or pay? If I may - what did you pay and where was the source? Your car looks great!

I had a shop do it. With something as valuable as my suspension and handling, I did not attempt to act as if this was a DIY for me personally. Having said that, I paid a pretty penny. Coils shipped for $3,100 direct from KW. And install was $1,500 with an alignment of course. Was able to get -1.9 of camber on the back to tuck in my wheels. Height is perfect for me right now. It wasn't cheap , but long term it makes sense for me. Just got back from my 2 day track event at Laguna seca and the car performed way better than I could push it. I've noticed nearly zero to reduced under/oversteer. Car is planted! Aesthetically, I love it as well. I didn't want to sacrifice the in car controls between eco->sport+. It's nice to flip the switch for track use and then get back in comfort for the 2hr drive home from the track. Especially once I start commuting to work after COVID passes. If it pases!

If you can afford it, don't compromise for cheaper coils. I don't think anyone should ever spend less than $2k on coils. This car is all about handling, don't ruin it! First time purchasing KW's and they were worth the wait

100%. Same as you, I previously went down the route of lesser coilover setups and paid the price. This time around want to do it right and maintaining the EDC controls were a must for me too. Hopefully I should have mine in the next couple weeks - the anticipation is real!

I had budget coils on my last car(civic x), and it was a nightmare! Never again. Glad I saved up a bit more and went the quality route. Can always pull them off if I sell and throw stock back on.

I live in the Bay Area, so I know the price is high. These are plug and play, so it's still a high quote. But I went to a reputable shop over in Berkeley called Griffin Motorwerke. Great shop and great work. Will be back for upgraded rotors and SS brake lines.

Great post! I appreciate your sharing. I’ve been looking at these since I picked up the car at the Performance Center. I’ve upgraded a lot of the car, but waited for these till I heard a review. I also am willing to pay for the EDC controls. I’ll be ordering these soon.

I'll vouch for Griffin too. Good guys that are always there to help folks with issues at Audi Club HPDEs. They also do free tire measurements/adjustments at Audi Club HPDEs.

I had no idea they join HPDE's! I was actually recommended to them by some friends in the BMW CCA. Good to hear.

There's a pretty good sized contingent of BMW CCA folks in the Audi club.

Image won't load. Are you saying you'd like to go higher in the rear because it's currently too low? If so, that's odd. I only dropped mine .5-.75 of an inch from stock. But stock height was definitely an option with the DDC's

Interesting, I didn't know these were capable of stock ride height, and like I said, the installer said the rears were at max height.

Here's the link to the coilovers:

Should definitely be able to go higher. Here's a side shot of my car when I use to have the KW DDC.

Maybe the installer is dyslexic and lowered it instead of the opposite. No offense, but it seems slammed and only extremes will get it that low. Check it yourself... Doesn't matter the reputation, honest mistakes are made sometimes. Also, did you measure before/after heights? Because if outside the manufacturer states spec., Maybe they sent the wrong item? Just sayin...

Good luck!

Where's your rear spring perch adjuster at? Mine is maxed out and the car seems slammed still. Something's not right with the kit I got, I reached out the KW to see what's up.

Sorry I sold my car, but hopefully someone who has this can chime in for you.
