Match UP 7BMW Turns Off At High Volume For Long Periods

Hello,

I have a 2019 BMW M240xi F23 Convertible with Harmon Kardon. I have upgraded my speakers and subwoofers to the Bavsound Stage 1 Speakers and Bavsound Ghost Subs.

I recently upgraded my amplifier to the Match UP 7BMW.

I am having an issue where when I play music at loud volumes (90%+) for about 20 minutes, the amplifier seems to shut off and the sound just cuts out completely. After about 30 seconds, the music returns and I can play at lower volumes just fine. But when I turn the music to high volumes again, it shuts off.

Before the audio shuts off, I notice some distortion in the music and particularly in the bass. However, this distortion is not present when first playing the music.

I have the Bass Meter in BMW's iDrive Headunit turned up 4 "clicks" as I enjoy having some extra bass and warmth in my music. This is the same setting I had in the Stock Harmon Kardon amp which had no issues playing at high volumes for extended periods of time.

Not sure if the amp is overheating, if this is an electrical issue, tuning issue, etc.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

Most likely the amp is shutting down due to overheating.

Any idea why that is or how to prevent that as I didn’t have that issue with the stock amp.

Maybe running the volume at 90%? The amp doesn't get much ventilation as it's buried under the trunk liner.
