Other than making an easier wheel mount, I don't see the advantage of the studs over bolts. Especially as noted in regard to using spacers... But thanks for recommendation!

If I'm going through the trouble of a stud conversion I would also choose the 1.25 to 1.5 thread pitch conversion studs. So in addition to easier wheel mounting, you get the added benefit of a coarse thread. 1.25 pitch fine threads are more prone to cross threading compared to 1.5 pitch coarse threads.

Garage List
If you stick with bolts, get one of these to hang the wheel on:

I have a few months of street and track driving
No compromises with the 380mm except conversion price. Better looks. Better heat management best brake upgrade for price on any platform I have owned

Bill, are you still just running stock wheels? I am trying to find wheels that will fit with the Kern adapters (currently run Enkei 18x8.5 ET38 and they didn't fit). I was looking at Apex SM-10 in 18x8.5 ET35 and the Apex guys can't confirm it will fit... can't seem to find any certain options in 18 inch.

Anyone do the rears too? I want to know if I can use the M3 knuckle instead so that I don't need to shave off anything

Be aware, on top of cutting the stock knuckle you'll also lose the ebrake. The M2 rotors parking brake drum part is way bigger than the stock 2 series. I went back to stock size rotors once I realized I couldn't adapt it to work or park anywhere safely (manual). I'm sure they're great on track days but I also didn't want to swap back and forth all the time. Now I have $600 rotors just sitting on a shelf, yay.

I don't know if the 3 series knuckle bolts up or not but I'd love to know.

Revisiting this thread to just ask how everyone is doing with their conversions! Any new science gained thru experience? Changes to set up...?

Whole summer of tracking and everything is good.

I want to know if anybody put a 3 series knuckle on the back to keep the parking brake functional.
