Thanks for the photos. I must say, I'm in love with this car.

Gotcha. Wasn't sure if it was axel back or cat back. Axel back will be a hard sell. I'll probably go aftermarket and at least cat back, but either way weight will be important. Wheels & exhaust look like the biggest opportunities to lose a few pounds without doing anything drastic.

My car is in production and still no pricing. I sure would like to have any installs done at port if possible rather than just the service dept at my dealer.

I was secretly hoping that by the time the car arrives in march, it could be stopped at port, but apparently that is a no go according to dealership : <

I was told the factory at Leipzig cannot do that. That all perf parts will be done at port or dealer. I know your waiting for port but I'm not sure they will ever be done at factory.
Do I have unrealistic fears of dealer install vs port? I don't trust my dealer to wash my car in fear of swirl marks. A bit nervous to have them install all the extra bits I'd like. Is that why you are waiting Greenkirby? |

I am waiting because of the following: 1) Port installed options show up on the car's sticker, so they keep the 4 year warranty. Dealer installed parts only carry a 2 year warranty. Not that I expect anything to go wrong, but good to know. 2) Port installed is much cheaper then dealership installed. I remember someone posting on 1 addicts that the M performance suspension labor costs was more then the parts of themselves (1,500 at port vs 3,000 at dealership once you include labor fees). On pieces such as CF mirrors, CF diffuser, CF spoiler, I'd rather much go aftermarket for 1/2 the price. I have a CF spoiler that cost me 180$, perfect fitment, and after 3 years has no signs of turning yellow. So really, port installed I prefer the more complex parts (such as the LSD or M brakes, M suspension). Since no news of the LSD has been announced, I have no idea as to how complex the install is. Things such as the BMW performance exhaust is generally cheaper to buy from people like dan@unitedbmw, and get installed vs port.

Makes sense but as those options were not available to be ordered in December when I ordered that would be impossible to pre-order and even if I walked in today and built and ordered they are not available to be added with the build. I don't mind waiting but it's February 1 and I can't order with perf parts still? I like your thinking on the 4 yr and the build sheet but if they can't specify at the dealership by now I wonder how long until I could actually order the car with the perf parts? As always we know more than the dealer and we know very little. I already changed color once but I'm in production now so I'm sure it's too late for me.

Thanks for the responses guys. I don't think I'm going to do the LSD which I would think would be the most intensive. But I do worry about being the first guy to have his rear diffuser fall off. I'll keep on my guys to search for answers too. I know even at the Detroit release BMW wasn't 100% sure how they were going to do the installs either. Seems like they would've had a plan in place but I guess not.
