Delete previous owner's iDrive profiles (how-to)

For those who had purchased a used car, delete the previous owner's idrive profile.

1. Settings
2. Profiles
3. Select the current profile in use (may have another name on it or look like ---)
4. Push the idrive dial to the right to bring up the "options" screen.
5. Scroll down to reset profile.
6. Takes a minute to do.
7. Turn the car off, wait 5-15 minutes for the idrive to completely turn itself off. If you are waiting in the car, make sure your seatbelt is not connected, or the idrive will not switch off.
8. Turn the car back on and go back to "Profiles" and select a "---".
9. Push the idrive dial to the right again, and select "rename profile".
10. Reconnect your phone, and start adding those shortcuts & other settings as preferred.

Before doing this my shortcuts and other settings would randomly reset themselves after a period of time and when using different keys to start the car.
After resetting and creating a new profile - every setting seems to save properly now.

I have very unique situation. The car is stuck in valet parking mode from the previous owner and asks 4-digit pin.

The problem is that I cannot exit this mode at all to go back to settings. I tried adding vin and registering a new BMW ID in My BMW app and after entering vin it asked to go back to dashboard and scan a QR code. But QR was never on the dashboard because the system is stuck in that valet mode…

Reached out to the My BMW support and was suggested to send them 3 documents proof of ownership in order to delete previous BMW ID from my car. It’s not a solution in my case because the car was purchased from an auction, not drivable now and I’m waiting bunch of parts from Germany as a special order. Because of that I don’t have title, registration and insurance which are required… so I’m lost at this point…

I have no answer for your question, but this does make me wonder: was the car smashed up while in valet mode?

I’ve followed the instructions on my 2019 2 series, but it tells me at the end that I need to turn off the engine but have the ignition on before it will reset. How is this possible with push button start?

Push the button once with your foot not on the brake/clutch.
