yes, thanks. I saw that. I'll do more research later on as I start to have to live with the smaller screen.

Thanks Anderw, this swap worked like a charm! I have a 2015 m235 without the tech package, and swapped my 6.5" display for the F30's 8.8". Here's a video of me activating it for the first time:

Does anyone know what is required to also retrofit the touch idrive knob?
I'm thinking additional coding will be necessary but are the idrive parts compatible? |

My F30 2015 has production date of 07/2014. And I'm in dilemna if its HU_ENTRYNAV or ENTRY. Can you elaborate what you mean by red stripes vs beige stripes? Which stripes on screen?

Can anyone guide me on how to unplug the video cable at the back of the screen?
There is not much slack on the wire, so I am having a hard time getting back there to pull the cable out. Also not sure which direction to pull so I don't break anything. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated! |

Also for those who get the 'No Signal' message after plugging in the new screen, you just have to make sure the connection is pushed all the way in. |

Confirming that this mod works for the m240i
Upgraded to a 8.8 LCI screen Location of coding was different than instructed however... for anyone attempting it use search bar in esys to find it |

I purchased it new from (what I believe was) a official BMW part re-sale distributor on eBay based in Germany. Although it was quite expensive it was the only CID I was confident would work. I think non-LCI screens would have worked (seen another guy successfully use them) but I wasn't really down for the the blue tint screen "issue". On a side note, for future reference to anyone considering the mod on new f22 line, removing the power plug from the original 6.5' CID is definitely a pain. I recommend using a Flat screwdriver. And for those who are scared to brick the car with the necessary esys coding, its really not that hard. Just follow the various guides provided on this forum. In any case, PM if you have some questions or need some help! Last edited by Dav3; 11-02-2016 at 11:12 AM.. |

Great info in this thread.
If you retrofit the upgraded iDrive controller that usually goes along with the larger screen, does that work? Does it require any additional coding over and above what's discussed here to make the screen function? |
