This is most appropriate in the Navigation, iDrive, Audio, Video, Bluetooth, Phone, Cameras, Electronics subforum here. It should be moved, and I've reported the thread to be moved to the mods. (I mean, jeez: this is five days old and I'm just now seeing it .. ) Please don't make up your own rules. You're not the center of the universe.

I'd add the touch Idrive here as a logical extension of the original idea as well as a titled thread.

This is freakin amazing. Probably going to go ahead and just purchase the F30 screen in preparation of doing this. Any way to get you to elaborate on the coding process a little so I know exactly what I need to do?

The coding is way easier then it seems you just have to get into the module that controls the screen itself and just change the last part of the entry to read HU_NBT > 3000 HMI > DISPLAY_SIZE_RESOLUTION = 8.8_1280x480 HU_NBT > 3001 EXBOX > DISPLAY_VARIANTE = breites_display the bold parts are what actually gets changed if you need some more help or any other questions let me know! |

I know right lol I have seen some pretty cheap ones in the $300 range , also the 10'' x5 screen seems to be extremely cheap for what your getting (under $250) there is someone who installed one in a f30 but had to hack up the dash board so that the ends fit in correctly , maybe one day I'd give that a try but id like a cleaner alternative on how to modify the surrounding dash

Wow! That's good to know that you can have the screen upgraded to the 8.8" however there is no NAV due to the head unit right? I'm in Canada and I just placed an order of the M235i with the dealer and our packages here are bundled differently here. I wanted the backup camera and the package includes the 8.8" nav and all the other goodies so all in all it was an expensive backup-camera addition! ($4500) but it includes the glass-sunroof as a bonus, comfort access which I wanted and the park distance/front & rear. I also ordered the Executive package which I primarily wanted the Universal Remote Control but paid $2500 for the other features which I'm not sure I'll use but that's irrelevant. Not sure if possible to install then aftermarket head unit with NAV & upgrade the screen. Would possibly save more money...
