Cooling Modifications Needed?
Hello, I just purchased a 2020 M240 (6mt in Long Beach Blue, with 37k on the clock ) and I'm looking to do a few open lapping days each year.
Would like to know if these cars suffer from overheating for 15 - 30min lapping sessions? And if so, what are the typical modifications / heat exchangers people use? Here's my current plan for mods & parts to help get the car prepped, feel free to nit pick / advise:

3. Those camber plates still make a lot of noise, just less than others.
7. Unless they changed something my car has the delay valve built into the slave cylinder, it's easiest to just replace the whole thing than take it apart and risk messing something up. You forgot brakes, get some good pads and higher temp brake fluid, braided lines would be good too. |

Yep, was planning on using Motul RBF 600. Not yet sure on pads, I can't get the Ferodo DS2500 on FCP Euro for this car like I was hoping. Open to suggestions for streetable track pads similar to the DS2500s available with lifetime warranty on ECS / FCP Euro. |

Welcome to the community! Looks like a good list to start!
Can vouch for the M Performance diff for track/Autocross. Totally changes the car at 9-10/10s! And is as quiet as the open diff on the street. It also makes Sport+ a useful mode on track. A few more things notes/additions to the list - just double check about oil starvation. I think the B58s are better in this regard, but it is a known problem with N55s - 2.4 degrees will not be enough camber most likely in the front. Make sure your camber plates can get you to 3+ to make that wheel fitment work. It’ll help that you’re on lowering springs though. Here’s the Apex guide I used as a reference: https://apexwheels.com/fitment-guide...-fitment-guide In the guide for the 255 R17 fitment it notes that 3-4 degrees is required. In the 18s the requirement is less but I’m running probably 3.4-3.5 deg to clear the fenders without rolling them on the stock suspension with the 12mm spacers up front. Now that being said I’m running RE71RSs which do run wider than PS4S. You’ll have an easier time with those. Not sure about the Conti-extreme contacts though as they are 200tw In the back you won’t need that much camber or maybe 2deg. I run 1.8 in the back and they clear fine. I was actually advised against too much rear camber because it’ll actually make it harder to put power down. For toe I’m zero in the front and a slight amount of toe in. No caster adjustment on these cars with the stock shocks unless I missed something about the millways. I just put a set of ARC-8s 18x9F w/255s and 18x9.5R w/255s. I also did a lot of scrolling and your setup was another I was considering. It’s a lot cheaper to run and buy than the similar 18 setup. Note that brake clearance is a bit tight with the 17s. - The cars is pretty well setup out of the box for occasional track use. I mainly Autocross but if track days were my focus I would eventually look at the larger bolt in M235iR/M240iR oiler cooler and a lower temp oil thermostat.

I know I'm replying a little late, but my 0.02:
I bought a bluetooth OBD dongle and took the car on track in June in the Northeast. It gets very hot and humid here nowadays. Probably 90 degrees F in humid weather, the car was roughly 212 deg F on track at speed. In the paddock I think the hottest it ever got was 235, which is what I saw on the street. There is a lot of ducting in these newer BMWs so I suspect that helped a lot. My car is totally stock FWIW. |

I’ve ran about 15 days in my 17 m240i. I have the electronic steering wheel so I can keep an eye on temps.
Everything from 70 degree days at Laguna seca, to 105 degree days at THUNDERHILL. I’ve never had cooling issues. Temps hardly ever get past 236, and around the street typically sit at 226. Car is great when running |
