Went LCI guage cluster, can I go back?

I put in an LCI guage a 2 years and 3000 miles ago. It worked fine the whole time but now is glitching badly. Turns off completely for a few seconds.

I'm assuming the issue is in the cluster so I want to put the original back in.

Since I had to get some programming done for the LCI, do I need to do any to go back to my old cluster?

Yes, I can confirm it is perfectly safe to swap back to your original cluster. The KOMBI control unit is located in the cluster itself, so the coding will be in the same state as it was when you removed it, and the odometer will update to the current mileage once it is reinstalled. No additional coding or programming is necessary.

Thank you. So just confirming that Even though I had to do programming for the LCI cluster, I don't have to do deprogramming for the old old cluster.

You rock. Thank you.

I hope that the issue is a fault in the cluster and nothing else.

Do you know if I can put in another virginized LCI cluster down the road with no programming also?

Yeah fingers crossed for you, hopefully it is isolated to just that.

If you get a new one, I expect that you would need to have the programming done on that one when you first install it. After it has been done once though, it is paired with your VIN and would need to be virginized again to be disassociated.

Put the old cluster in. The functions of the cluster all seem to work but several other things don't. I can't set the clock or date and the fuel economy is not coming up in the idrive only - -.

Curious, that sounds like the headunit, but that's just speculating. You may want to reach out to your coder after all, I apologize 🙁

Big shout out to Steve from codemybimmer who remotely coded back in the pre LCI cluster in just a few minutes.
