M240i B58 Bootmod3: Be careful!

Today (Sunday) I bought Bootmod3 and flashed Stage 1 91 Octane.

It threw a bunch of codes after the flash, and prompted me to 'recode'.

I tried that a bunch of times, including cycling the ignition 3x per their instructions. Battery was fine, running from my laptop and home wifi with over 100MB speed.

It fails every time, now my car is bricked and no one is responding to my desperate pleas for help. Mike from n54tech answered my emails, but he didn't have any luck getting those guys to reply.

Can I even safely reflash to stock? I have no idea.

I'll update this once I hear back.

If you're going to try this flash, do it during the week between 9-5 Pacific time when they're around to respond.

Relax and re-read the instructions. The car is not bricked. You need to scroll down and re-code the DME. It's all right there.

As I mentioned in my post, I’ve tried recoding many times and it failed every time.

Miraculously, overnight all my codes cleared, so when I started and ran my car this morning, it had no CEL.

I did remote in with bootmod3 support, and they double checked it.

So, thumbs up for the tune and bootmod3, but definitely I still recommend doing the flash 9-5 Mon-Fri Pacific time so you get their awesome support.

Doing the tune using the internet and a web based app (with a client side shim app) is way, WAY better!

Stronger in mid-range, doesn't seem to help up top. Better throttle response on light/mid throttle, which is also nice.

My butt dyne guesses I picked up 30-40 WHP.

So far, after the initial kerfuffle, no CELs or other problems.

How miraculous that your bricked ecu unbricked itself overnight.

Should bottle it, and sell me some, never know when I might need it, .... 🤷🏼.

Indeed. Shutting off & on the car several times the day before didn't do anything to clear the codes. I have no effing idea...maybe there's a time-based ECU reset that requires the car to be shut down for a while, or even a cap bleeding off over time to enable the clear.
