adding a 12 volt socket to drivers area

My iPhone holder also provides wireless charging if connected to a power source via its USB-C port. I like to see both the car screen and the phone screen as the car screen shows a map and the phone screen shows turn-by-turn instructions. See image.

Any idea on installing a 12 volt socket somewhere in the driver's side foot well area? I am trying to avoid having to run a wire from the fuse box in the trunk all the way to the front of the car. Also don't want to drill a hole in the firewall to access the fuse box in the engine compartment.

I am already using the usb in the console for USB music.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Thanks! Would I still need to run a wire through the firewall to the fuse box in the engine compartment as shown in some posts I've searched?

Nope. Just from radio to glovebox.

Another option if your car has the phone cradle and you're not using it, you can remove that and replace with USB to use for phone charge.

I did thAt in my F31 and did the glovebox USB in my F23. Both are easy.

You can also tap the back of your existing cigarette lighter for power.

That's how the wireless charging mats work, tapping into lighter power. There may even be a harness option available. Unless I am mistaken though this requires dismantling much of the center console.

The glovebox and cradle options do not require a tap and plug directly into the port on the radio. Glovebox you pull the radio out to connect the wire, cradle you pull the rear vents to access the wiring. Unplug cradle, plug in USB socket.

This is fairly easy to do. The 12V socket is part # 61346973037.

You do need to get power there (you can tap into the 12V socket in the centre console or run it to your fusebox and use a fuse tap).

Does yours have the cigarette lighter in the cupholder area ? My 2019 does, I'm putting a USB adapter in it.
