Check out this post by Mywifes335. I finally found a shop that can do the work. I may give this a shot depending on what they want to charge me. I'll skip the bypass tube, but definitely want to remove the resonator and gut the back box.

Em... thanks. So I guess I would want to remove all fiberglass from back muffler and probably replace inside with straight tubes

Yeah, so what I gathered from it is this:

Delete resonator
Remove packing from 1st and 3rd chamber
Replace perforated tubing in 3rd chamber (and maybe 1st too???) with straight tubing

Well I don't want to remove resonator, just mod the stock muffler box. I assume the stock muffler has 3 chambers? Need to remove all fiberglass and replace tubing in 3rd

Point is not to spend $750 plus install for MPE. It's the same modified muffler. I have never done exhaust on any of my cars, this one is just way too silent

I suppose this is our muffler. So need to either weld all holes in 1 and 3 or install straight pipes (check original thread as well). This is supposed to be better then MPE by the way.

Has anyone tried just the centre resonator delete while retaining the stock/MPE mufflers?

Sounds good! But will this hurt performance? I've heard that it could actually reduce low end torque a bit. Not sure how true that is.

I wanna go to muffler shop tomorrow and ask them. If they can't do it, that's fine.....will be looking for used MPE. I can't justify $750 bucks for a muffler

I'm gonna call a shop tomorrow. I need a stop gap until I save up enough for an AWE or Fabspeed setup. If I'm lucky I'll like this just fine and the money can go towards a sport cat.

Asked the shop to make those 2 pipes solid. Was quoted $400 bucks and guy said he doesn't understand the logic behind leaving the 2nd chamber since everything is going to escape through tail pipes anyway. He said eliminating muffler completely is $200......

Yeah, I called a shop and they said they wouldn't even do it because the metal on the muffler is too thin to weld. :/ Oh well, guess I'll just continue to save up for an exhaust.

My 2015 WRX catless dp on e-85 shot out flames on some shifts. Ill post a pic, this is what hes asking about, not those kits they sell...
Not my car, this pic is from my tuners fb. I have seen multiple cars do this, on dynos and the street. My car did the exact same thing on the dyno.
Just another good reason to pass on the subi's... First ringlands and now a fire hazard... What next .. !

I had fire in my Evo X.
I stand corrected. With race gas and big turbo, it made fire:

That's right, y'all! Yes! 500whp now.

I heard a 335 last night with a muffler delete and catless DP. It sounded amazing. Nowhere near as loud as I thought it would sound. Owner said that inside of the cabin is drone city though and is looking to gut his stock muffler and re-attach it.
