I have a 3000kg / 6500lb lift that is a bit more flexible in what it does:

- Lifts straight up (Quick Jack moves through an arc, causing the car to move forward 30cm / 12” or so at highest lift point)

- Lifts up to 1.3m / 54” with multiple lock positions at different heights (Quick Jack only lifts 45cm / 18”)

- Arms can be positioned in many places for flexibility on where the vehicle is lifted (Quick Jack seems to be only able to lift under the sills)

My lift is similar to this one: https://www.harborfreight.com/6000-l...ift-91315.html

I had one and sold it. Nothing but trouble, too heavy for me to carry. Dangerous. After it fell, I sold it for $400 CAD. Jack

OK

Thanks for inputs....That harbor Freight type does look interesting. Curios how many are using some sort of lift at home...This thing is so low to ground getting it up to work on is really needed for an old guy like me. Oil changes, wheel and brake inspections and cleaning, and possible charge pipe change is about all I can think I would tackle. But it would be nice to have it lifted a bit.

Hi: I'm an old guy too. The Quick Jack is in 3 parts. The jacks themselves are too heavy for me. When it worked, it was great. I changed oil and transmission fluid in one day, easily, and bi yearly wheel and tire changes. But then it seized, and I had to argue with the company for 6 months to get a new cylinder. Got it working again, then, while changing to winter tires this year, one side fell. Luckily no dogs, humans, or chickens were killed. There were no wheels on the car, my other jack (another Chinese model) didn't work. I had to call a friend who brought over a huge jack. We had to dig a hole in the driveway to use it. That's when I decided to sell it for $400. Glad it's gone. I replaced it with a Brunnhoelzl, made in America. It's like a piece of jewellery. I'm sick of buying a new Chinese jack every year. Jack (my name)

Good to hear no one (or thing!) was hurt. Jacks are definitely one piece of equipment you can't skimp out on.

Got air under it

After some searching and reviewing and checking my options for my garage I decided to go with easy lift. $1000 from Home Depot.
Assembled easy and not problems. It is heavy and the quick connectors seem to be fine or even better. filled with oil and slid it under the car.
These are pics of lift in the 1/2 way lock position and been locked there for few days. I don't need it any higher for what I plan to do.
Just giving my review so far.

Give it 6 months. Hope it doesn't break when you are underneath.

I’ll check back

I put jack stands in place also if I am under there.
Seems solid but safety is my motto. !

I have a quick jack and it has worked great for me so far. I have a friend who has had one for years and loves it, which is what convinced me to buy mine. I mainly use it for brake work and tire rotations.

I have a Quickjack. It is very reliable, and the frame is sturdy.

I've been using quick jacks for a months now and no issues. There is a locking system that makes it impossible for the jacks to collapse. I believe you did not use them correctly.

Extra support if you want

After fully lifted it locks in place. I also put Jack stand under each frame end which gives a second bit of safety. In addition I have wood blocks that will slide under each tire. So I have a very solid platform if I am under the car. My nephew changed his motor and trans with one of these these lifts under his M Car.

So did the metal actually break? I don't see any other way it could collapse if you lowered it and let it rest on a lock point.

It was in use, going up. One side went up, one side fell down - very dangerous.

Sometimes both sides don't lift at the same rate. You need to double check both sides to make sure the lift arms are in the locking position.

If it collapsed while lifting then maybe you had a defective hydraulic lift. Did you lose all the hydraulic fluid from one lift?

I replaced one hydraulic lift, after weeks of hassle from the company, and I do believe the final failure was because of the pump. That's when I sold it.
