Saying Goodbye!

Thanks for all the help and info over the past 3 years! My Mustang came in and now my BMW is parked until it goes back to the dealer in a few weeks.

For anyone interested, the new car is a '19 GT Premium with a stick shift.

I had the same car (2018 model) as a rental for 11 days a couple months back. The car has got some major torque and balls, but it's not very nimble at all. Almost kind of drove like a boat with major blind spots and a coffin feeling. The turn radius was way too big for my liking too. How do you feel about the handling characteristics since you drove an F22 for 3 years, which has great balance and handling prowess.

Nice looking ride.

Here is to hoping you dont have engine or transmission issues like a lot of Mustang GT owners are having!!!!

Holy crapola, that's a five-dip dose of Debbie Downer.

Congrats to the OP on the new ride. Enjoy!

Haha just my opinion after spending 11 days in the car. I was actually excited to drive it for that period of time but I was quite shocked at how clunky it felt. Of course I'm comparing it to a very small, well balanced F22 so it's like apples to oranges. I personally like smaller cars for the nimbleness.

I'd love me a high revving small displacement V8, but Ford has some major issues with those newer Coyotes. I wouldn't touch one with a 10 foot pole right now, especially with the way Ford shops tend to treat their customers. It's a different world from the more typical German shop experience. I do wish you the best, but be prepared and pray your 5.0 doesn't have the "tick".

My dad recently got one of these, was a blast to tool around in for a bit. Almost made me regret my M240i order, but I quickly came to my senses

Great car though, congrats OP.

It is indeed a very different feel from the smaller 2. I am still adjusting to the larger hood/width just in regular driving.

I was ready to give up the more nimble car for more of a grand tourer. I didn't do a whole lot that pushed the M235 suspension in my regular life. At the end of my 3 years with it I honestly was getting tired of the stiffer suspension it comes with. This car still feels very nimble to me, the steering is very tight like the BMW. I know I can't take a corner like I can in the M235 though, for sure.

I do not feel like it drives like a boat at all though - this car actually is a little lower than the M235 (I had them side by side), but the driver seating portions & dashboard are about the same height 0 the M235 being slightly higher. This is the first Mustang in my lifetime that feels more like a Euro-style sedan from the cockpit.

The power is comparable to the M235, since I got the stick shift. If I got the auto I'd be a lot faster (4.0sec to 60 from the auto vs 4.5 for the stick). The sound in and outside the car while driving is intoxicating. The throaty rumble is already making me smile bigger than the inline 6 did. To each their own for sure, but this was the right call for me!

Yes, the 5.0 definitely sounds awesome in stock form. If I owned one, I wouldn't want it any louder as it sounds perfect as is. I absolutely loved the growl upon start up. The low end torque on the auto trans was monster, but it was too big of a car for me to truly enjoy. I'm glad you like it! All the best to you!

First, congratulations on your new ride!

I drove one at Loudon (a pure handling track), and while, yeah, it's big, heavy, yada-yada, all things considered it acquitted itself quite well on that track.

TLDR; The car is a fun ride, and that is the point, after all, isn't it.

Car looks great! Ignore the haters. In the not too distant future it won't be possible to get a V8 or an MT, nevermind both. I'm glad Ford still makes them.

Enjoy!

Thanks a lot for all the nice comments everyone. This forum and the 2 series are amazing, and me switching vehicles is in no way a knock on this car! The 2 is really the best. Hope you all enjoy all your current and future rides.

I went from a ‘16 Mustang GT to an ‘18 M240i, both manuals. The GT in my opinion was too long in the front end, kind of hard to see out of, and gave up a lot in handling, balance and refinement. That having been said, the GT was a blast to drive. I did a cat back Borla exhaust, and it did sound amazing. Enjoy your new ride.

My last three car purchases, I strongly considered a Mustang convertible. I love the fact Ford has made them available in fun colors, like yellow, orange, green and bright blue. I think the current 2019 is one of the best looking Mustangs in a long time. For some reason, it just wasn't the right fit for me when I made my final car buying decision. That said, every time I see one on the road, I notice it and think it would be fun to have one of the most iconic American cars of all time. Enjoy your new ride.

I'm in the opposite situation, as I sold my '15 GT Premium with Performance Package in order to get a '19 M240i xDrive. The '19 GT is quite an improvement over the '15 so I think you'll enjoy it quite a bit. For my personal tastes, I am very impressed with the chassis, handling, and daily drive-ability of the M240i.
