"Replace Battery" at 22 miles on '18 M240i??

I took delivery of an new M240i a few days ago. Tonight, I went to put some backroad miles on it, just to get acquainted.

I was greeted with a "Replace Battery" warning on the dash cluster. The car had 22 miles on it. I thought I'd try charging the battery by driving it, as planned. Ended up adding 29 more miles, but the "Replace Battery" warning persisted.

I texted my salesman. He replied, "Yeah. Once the car gets to a certain battery level that message won't go away even though the battery is perfectly fine. Really frustrating. I will check with my manager tomorrow to see what needs to be done." WTF?

Any experiential forum feedback on this issue? Is there a DIY reset, maybe? I'm sure it'll all get worked out tomorrow, but nothing beats first-hand experience. Thanks, in advance!

Battery replaced, as a mandated BMW precaution. Took all of 45 minutes, easy peasy.

I got a free cup of coffee (or two), besides. Machine said Starbucks, but it wasn't.

Glad you got the battery issue worked out and in a timely manner. I've only had 2 minor problems with my 16' M235i a bad exhaust valve and defective trunk struts. Car has been rock solid otherwise so I don't think you have anything to worry about.

what happened with your trunk struts? I noticed mine doesn't open all the way anymore and you kind of have to push it up....

Had the same exact issue with mine. When you opened the trunk it would kind of just stay there instead of lifting up. I mentioned it to my SA when the car was in for service and they ordered a set for me. They were back ordered and took like 2 months to come in so I think there must have been a bad batch. You should be able to get them replaced w/o issue.

WTF indeed - a bad battery that soon after delivery? Any ideas as to the root cause?

Do you have a coupe or cabrio? My Cabrio has never opened when released. Just thought it was something to do with the convertible top?

Any other convertible owners truck lids pop open when released or do they all just lay there?

Coupe

The trunk doesn't open automatically you have to push it. But if the struts are ok once you push it will keep going all the way but when the struts are worn it will stop half way.

Same as when opening the hood

No idea what caused the issue. My car was a custom order, so it never languished on the dealer lot.

The new battery has been perfect for nine months now, so... case closed.
