Understood - but for power gain - they are pretty similar? Or at least the sport would still be a noticeable upgrade from factory specs of roughly 40hp/40 tq?

Similar performance out of the box with the Elite having a slight edge. Sport owners are generally reporting noticeable felt gains.

Thanks all -

And in regards to using the sport one - you can turn it off before going in for service and its non-traceable? Are CEL's coming up/warranty issues coming up?

The other, initial one that was first reported, came back and passed the test bench so was installed on our shop 340i and has been running fine with no codes.

ELITE utilizes a much more powerful processor and adjusts more parameters so drivability as a result is smoother. ELITE also is upgradeable meaning that as hard parts are released it will be able to be upgraded to further stages of tuning to extract more power out of those hard parts instead of just being capped at the +4 PSI boost like the SPORT unit.

Of course warranty is still the biggest difference though.
Just curious, if we were to get the Elite, should we still take it out everytime we go to the BMW dealer or can we leave it because of the matching warranty?

The BMW dealer did my install. They are also a Dinan dealer. I think a better option for establishing a warranty claim would be to show a Dinan dealer did the install.

How much did they charge for the install?

My dealer tends to quote whatever Dinan states for install time, so 1 hour of labor on the tune at $154/hr.

Traction Issues?

Are you guys with the Elite seeing problems laying down traction? I find that even stock I have problems getting a good hook up. Also, any 0-60 times??

It definitely requires a more measured throttle application or you will feel the traction control kick in. Bigger rubber is definitely in the cards. The question is now- is an LSD necessary especially if this is just stage 1? Some of the JB4 guys can comment here as well.

All public road time for me, so no 0-60 times.

Biting the bullet and getting this Elite installed soon. Just put in the order with a authorized dealer. I'll do a few dyno pulls to see how much it really adds to the car.

What is this m240i exhaust thing at the end of the month? I have a M performance exhaust on my car, but if you guys are making your own exhaust and it's way better (sound and power), I'd probably switch.

When tuning on these cars, more rubber and a LSD or xDrive is highly recommended. One of the main reasons I got the xDrive because I knew I'd have performance parts. I have the JB4 and the power difference from stock I'm sure is the same as this Dinan tune and I couldn't imagine not having a LSD or xDrive to put it down. The 235/265 setup helps I'm sure, but the LSD/ xDrive would be your best option for putting the power down.

Dinan is working on their exhaust for the M240i. They will be offering a non-resonated mid-pipe as an option for their system.

the B58 already puts out enough power to break the tires loose if you're generous with the go pedal

In my opinion an LSD is going to be a prerequisite for any significant tuning/power upgrades....unless you enjoy replacing tires and brake pads

That's exactly my point if you're planning on tuning even before you order your car, it's $2k for an LSD or $2k for xDrive. Unless there's a specific reason to go rwd for some reason, I'd just recommend xDrive since it'll put the power down better than the LSD will... unless sideways is you're friend and you can control said friend
