235/40/18 tires are recommended for the front if you are looking for a "bolt on a go" type fitment. For those looking for more front end grip, and may be tracking the car, 245/35/18's can be done up front but it requires 5mm spacers to create a bit more clearance between wheel/tire and suspension. Now that inner clearance is okay, we must fight outer fender clearance issue's with the fenders. This can be addressed by installing M control arms and/or aftermarket camber plates. The overall goal is to dial in enough negative camber to gain wheel/tire to fender clearance, but and it is important to note that adjustable camber plates will work best. The M control arms provide a limited amount of negative camber, and although it may be just enough to fit the 245's, your setup may still rub over bumps and under hard cornering. With adjustable camber plates, you will have a much wider range to work with. Please note that precise negative camber requirements will ultimately depend on tire brand and how low the car is, but I believe -2 degrees should do the trick.

Thanks Ryan!

I guess for 245s, there is no getting around camber plates. Any suggestions? They all seem pretty pricey - $500+. Plus the installation and then have to get yet another alignment.

How much better would the car handle with the 245s vs running the 225s up front? This is all considering that I now have the Apex wheels on and I am running 265s.

It is important to remember that camber plates provide more benefits other then just extra tire to fender clearance. By dialing in negative camber, the car's ability to turn-in is improved and your tires will also wear at an even rate on the track. Without negative camber, your tires would wear severely on the outsides on the tread, as you are spending most of your time in mid-corner. Negative camber allows you to bring the contact patch back to the center of the tire, thus prolonging the life of the tire. This is why I tell my customers that a fixed cost for camber plates actually saves you more money in the long run on tires. In other words, camber plates are complementary goods to wheels and tire for track oriented customer. Typically those looking to run 245's up front are looking for more front end grip, mitigating understeer, and are likely tracking the car.

If you are solely using the car on the street, and camber plates are not on your short list of modifications, I would simply run 235/40/18's which are easier to squeeze in there.

I'll have to have a friend take pics for me this weekend since I'm actually on crutches for the next few months.

But verbally, the way I got the rears to fit was the installer had to get a cutoff wheel and cut a piece of the plastic sleeve that covers the rear shock. This is for both sides.

In addition, we had to cut a bit of the insulation (splash guard) right around the plastic fuel filler neck on the passenger side. Be very careful here - obviously.
Sorry to hear that, get well soon so you can be back on the road!

Were you rubbing on the fuel filler neck or did you just cut it out of precaution?
If you can send me pictures of what was shaved off it would be super helpful.

Necro bump. I have this same wheel set and tire sizes with Hankook Ventus V12 evo2 and they fit, no rubbing. No spacers, no suspension mods.

Just to confirm your tire sizes. I'm looking on trying hankooks since the Michelin 4s are too expensive
Front: 235/40/18 (may need a 5mm spacer to be in the safe side)
Rear: 265/35/18 (or 255 to be safe. I see some fitting 265s michelin 4s with a 5mm spacer and some with no spacer. It's kinda confusing since some tires run wider than others)

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks for the posts! The sizes in the OP are confirmed to fit keeping the potential spacer requirement in mind. To clarify the sizes:

Front: 18x8.5" ET45 with 235/40-18 tires
Rear: 18x9.5" ET58 with 265/35-18 tires
- Front 3mm or 5mm spacers may be required depending on tire brand.
- Front 245/40-18 tires may also be used, but will require at least 5mm spacers.
- Rear fitment rarely needs spacers, but they may be required to completely eliminate rubbing.
