Will 225/40 front fit on the staggered rear wheel?

I need new tires for the M235 . I have the staggered setup with 225/40 Front and 245/35 Rear.

This is a daily driver for the wife, not a track car, so I wanted to get a good all season tire that can be rotated. Looking at the Michelin A/S 3+ and they are easier to find in the 225/40 size.

It looks like I can install the front 225/40-18 front size on the wider rear wheel, but I wondered if this was a common setup for anyone??

Any issues?

No issues in fitting the 225/40-18 tyre to the rear wheel, but you will have to remount the tyres to rotate them or use a spacer on the rear wheels if used on the front, as the ET is too high.

Your rear wheels will look very tucked. A 10-15mm+ spacer would be needed to get you near flush, and also that rear tire will look really stretched with that racerboy look. Find a second pair of 18x7.5 to run square on 225's. They're constantly available for sale here in the classifieds.

Thanks for the responses. You confirmed what I wanted to know about the best way to get 4 equal size tires/wheels.

A) front is as from the factory
b) 225 on 8 inch is "stretched" boyracer? 205 on 8 inch are kinda stretched but nothing extreme
Rim width Ideal tyre width
7,5 Inches 215 or 225 mm
8,0 Inches 225 or 235 mm

Yes, it will look slightly stretched. I'm on 18x8 squared with staggered tires 225/40 front and 245/35 rear (Mich AS3+) and you can see the difference between the two. I personally like the flush look of the 245 better. It's all preference.

That is why I said "slightly stretched" (and as you implied that depends on the tire too as some run wider than others). 225mm = 8.8 inches so in theory wider than the rim
But boy racer stretched is a 195 on a 8 inch
