I talked to BMWNA yesterday and they confirmed the same as most in this thread "not covered", the rep said he had 2 other calls that day asking the same question.
Because of that I picked up the 7 quarts of oil and filter from the dealership (I was there for other reasons) for ~$70 and will be doing it myself tomorrow morning.
The idea that an M with an N motor (1M upcoming M2) will have this service available and we don't is stupid at best, but whatever.

I wonder why I have an email from my service advisor that said BMWNA will pay for it and the service was done for free?

The email has the standard proprietary warnings on it so I can't post it here.

I did also talk with BMWNA and the guy on the phone admitted that he did not have the credentials to say whether it was covered or not. He referred me to the dealer as the final authority. The dealer works with the warranty department where we talk with customer service.

I just got 1200 mile oil change from my dealer.
they said BMWNA or whoever give dealerships the authority didn't give it to them to perform 1200mile service "YET", but they can still do it and send the service paperwork to them later once they get the authority.

does this sound clear...? srry for the lack of english.

Sent in the letter I got in my ED package and got a response from BMWNA ED department today. Basically they said it will be up to the local centers to decide whether they'll do it as a good will. However, if you did pass 1200 miles in Europe and had the service done in Europe, BMWNA will reimburse you.

Now I'm regretting not having it done in Europe.

This is good to know! I wasn't planning on driving that many miles in Europe but considering I wont be driving it for over a month when its on the ship to the East Coast that should make up for the 1,200 miles I could do in Europe. Thanks for the update

Went to the dealership today and they told me the 1200 miles is only for M cars because they have break-in fluids. It doesn't apply to our M235i.

Even though I was initially told it was covered .... they told me today that's only for M cars that come with different viscosity fluids from factory... so i guess it's not covered....

well done for the ones that got it done though....

In conclusion, should we pay for the oil change, or definitively there's no such thing as break-in mileage/time in this vehicle?

Oil filters can be purchase online (amazon, autohauz, etc)

Oil i get at autozone when its on sale or get the 1 gallon jug at walmart (mobil 1 0W-40)

Also get a oil fitler cap (not the universal ones) so you can properly tighten to spec so that the oil filter housing gasket doesnt wear prematurely

It would be $79.99 plus tax after BMWCCA discount at my dealer.

Why don't you check with Seattle BMW? You can take your car any where for service.

Anyone know why the US service interval is so much smaller than here in the UK? Our first service on the M235i isn't until 18,000 miles.

Thanks.
