M2 versus tuned M235Xi

I had the opportunity to race a new M2 at the NE Dragway - We did 2 runs head to head - In this case my M235xi was a little over 3/10th faster i.e. 12.4 to 12.73 - I am sure however if we went to road course the M2 would be better

I would think this is 100% driver dependent.

Your car also had the distinct advantage of AWD.

that is somewhat true - however we are both experienced drivers on the strip - the guy in the M2 had a 335 rear wheel drive that he had raced for a few years - With the tune I more than likely had more HP than his stock M2 - I was actually surprised how well the M2 ran - it was better than advertised by BMW -

Great results, thanks for sharing!

What tune do you have? Was he on street tires?

I'm starting to really want an M2 but I know I'll miss my xdrive...

Nice! I'm fairly certain you're not stock right?

a m235 with a DP and a flash tune will walk on a stock m2. Bus length in a 1/4 mile.

trap speeds mean nothing in 1/4 drag racing - but I will find the slip and post the speeds - as I remember there were pretty close

Sure they do. It's a good indication of horsepower.

Bryan, + Luminous M2TROLL we def need to hit that drag-strip and make World Record..

A piggyback M235 is hitting 12.4 lol vs 13.3 in our area.

Btw OP, our friend M2TROLLAWD M235 ECU Flash + DP hit 12.1@111 in NJ back in April (55F).

My other friend FBO 335Flash Tune hit 12.6@111 in 100F (West Palm Beach)

So yes trap means A LOT!

OK Trap speed has never won a drag race - RT and ET are what win - yes some cars are beasts at the back end (i.e. HP) and some are torque monsters off the line -
I have slips with my Mustang to prove it - I have had some terrible runs due to driver error i.e. lousy 60 ft time but had a good trap time - At the Mello Yellow this year it was proven time and time again - but I will agree with one point HP is the key at the back end
The slip for the 12.4 was posted on this forum and can also be round on NE Dragway results -

There you go! Similar times, but you're definitely making more power. Mods?

I was dragging an an ecu tuned m2 last night.
I beat him on every pull, from a stop, roll racing etc...

From a stop, i got a few car lengths on him from the jump. Xi vs rwd.

Comparing the 235 vs M2 via drag racing seems like having a competition between the Victoria's Secret girls to see which one is the best cook. Not to diss drag racing, but it is not what either of these cars were made for.

^^

Lol, what cars are "made" for drag racing as their sole intent, aside from a Dodge Demon or a Challenger 1320 Scat Pack?

I will say this for the HP and Torque with just a Dinan tune and CAI - in cool weather our M240I X drive pretty much destroys most cars at the track - Of course the Wife usually cuts a .0 something light which helps - Last Week A Caddy CTS - a 18 Camaro and a Audi S3 bit the dust - Is it made for drag racing no but sure does perform - times high 11 low 12 consistent but the amazing part is the 1/8 always in the 90mph and high 7 range
