M235i with M2 exhaust

Here is a picture of my M235 with an M2 exhaust. Bought it from M5 Monster on this forum. That is the standard stock diffuser. Kept the mid resonator. A local shop charged me $170 to put it on and do some slight trimming of the diffuser to clear the inner pipes.

Sorry I don't have a video but I can say it sounds great. Even glorious I might say when I ran through a tunnel under heavy acceleration. The only downside to me is that it's bit loud when trundling around town in the 25 to 35mph range but well worth it.

I have had the Active Sound bypass harness on there too and highly recommend it regardless of exhaust.

Just trying to one up the guy who lives across the street who has an MPE on his M235.

How complex was the install regarding cutting the diffuser and also getting the new exhaust and hangers to line up?

Any pictures of how the muffler and pipe were installed would be wonderful. I have been thinking of doing this myself. Do you know if the shop had to do some custom Pipe bending to the muffler/pipe to make it fit? hangers?
The Trim job looks good as well.

Looks good and yea maybe a different diffuser would let it pop a little more.

Nice. Would love to hear it!

I've been actively looking into this, but the diffuser is the real problem in my mind. There's another guy on the forum who joined an M2 diffuser with the OEM M235 diffuser. I had a body shop put together the price of doing similar and it got up to well over $1200 because of all the glues, paint, etc. Even then, the horizontal lines of the M2 diffuser look a bit "off" with the stock diffuser.

OP, do the quad tips move "in" from stock, or "out". I wonder if an M-performance diffuser could be cut to fit, similar to how this OEM was cut?

In an attempt to respond to a few other posters on this thread......

I didn't watch the shop mount it so I don't know if there was much involved. The M235 mounts and the M2 mounts are the same so it should have been quite simple.

I didn't really do this for the look, rather the sound. I was contemplating cutting off the quad pipes and mounting the stock dual pipes in their place and having it look 100%
stock.

The cut of the diffuser was only on the inner side. They also had to cut the heat shield a bit too. The outside width is the same or at least close enough to not require cutting there.

I saw other posters doing some custom work in an attempt to make the fit and look to their liking. The M2 pipes do stick out about an inch further than stock. This is good enough for me.

I second the idea of putting back on m235 dual tailpipe, especially with OP who's only after the sound.

The quad pipe would make people with trained eyes even suspicious of its m235i identity given obviously owner is trying to look like something it's not. And to people that's clueless, quad or dual dont make a difference.

Nice! I have the MPE exhaust on my 2015 m235 - curious what sound difference, if any, there is.

This is a direct fit for M235 Nothing needed but a clamp.

Here videos from another members install.

Can anyone please help me? If an M2 exhaust fits on M235i. Can i buy a complete M2 catback (eg M2 milltek quad tips catback) and just install it on my M235i with no modifications except cutting my diffuser? :-)

Usually yes, the exhaust I got, was the entire catback M2 exhaust. Went in just fine, assumption is aftermarket ones should be the same.

The only thing i noticed is that the M2 milltek has 2 mid-pipes? My M235i exhaust is a single pipe from the muffler to the cat.

Are you sure its not for the competition M2? The standard M2 is an N55 same as ours, single turbo. S55 ones have dual piping. But I am not sure why they would go that route for an N55??

Eitherway, if it fits on the standard M2, it should fit on our cars.
