My local independent who supplied my winter wheels said that you can't be sure any wheel will fit over the M Performance brakes. Even if the manufacturer says they will. They always test-fit 3rd-party wheels first, without a tyre on them, just to be sure. Apparently, manufacturers still get it wrong sometimes, and a wheel with the same product name can change in profile enough to not fit.

Of course, the odds are that a known BMW wheel or 3rd-party model that is already widely used on existing M-Lites will fit. But for less common 3rd-party wheels you can't be sure, so fitting first is recommended. And without a tyre, as manufacturers won't take a wheel back if a tyre has been fitted to it.

This is excellent information and advice; it's something that potential aftermarket wheel buyers should be aware of.

I've been caught-out a couple of times over the years, finally realizing that if I didn't have rock-solid information that a wheel would fit, I'd better buy a single wheel for a test-fit first. When there's been a question of tire fitment as well, I've purchased a tire and mounted it to the test wheel to find out if the combination would fit.

If you use the right wheel and tyre specialist, fit should be guaranteed.

In Calgary I use a specialist that can sell in Canada for the same price I can buy from Tirerack, PMC Tire or 1010tires, but they are resellers for those organizations and others. If there is any issue, they handle returns and any expense incurred for tyre mount / demount, etc.

I also would like to know if these clear. You would think with the curve of the backface that it would clear. I think I need to do some research on the Stanceworks forum. Maybe I can get someone to measure the clearance for us. I will keep this space posted.

Do you have any pics? I have ssr type 6 two piece 18x9 +45. I have to run a spacer in the front only to clear the strut. I have tons of brake clearance.
