I'm having a dilemma... BMW just installed my front splitters, rear spoiler, pedals and black kidney grille...

Those parts I didn't mind getting BMW to do it as I found the price to be "fair" as it was "harder" to install and takes a little time and if I stuff up I can't change it but if they stuff up they have to fix it, however, the mirrors I don't think so, its a clip on part, and they want to charge an arm and a leg for the part and installation. AUD$600 for the pair + labour... while RW carbon can get 2 sets over for AUD$600 delivered.

MY ONLY worry is the carbon fibre... Does it match the rear spoiler? I don't want different colours as it might look strange.

You're right that installing the mirror caps is an easy DIY job. I certainly wouldn't pay BMW labor prices to have it done. I have the BMW OEM CF spoiler on my car but I couldn't bring myself to pay what they were asking for the CF mirror caps so I had them wrapper in CF vinyl. They don't match the spoiler (spoiler is perfectly smooth and shiny because of the multiple layers of clear coat), but I don't think they look "strange" at all mainly because they're so far away from each other that you're never looking at both at the same time. If they were two parts right next to each other I'd be much more concerned about them matching.

As I illustrated in my earlier posts in this thread, the RW Carbon mirror caps are a perfect match to the OEM spoiler in every way. Gloss, pattern, color, etc.

Thanks neue02

Was looking if they're the only supplier.. Or if there are others out there with similar quality.

I went with them because they are in the U.S. and they answered questions I had very quickly. Most of the other suppliers I found were in Asia.

Thanks for the excellent feedback on the product. I'll go with them too when I get ours delivered. BTW, looks like your M235i has some good stable mates.

Just received the RW carbon mirrors. Ordered on Thursday and received on Monday... and that's to Australia!

Will put them on today and post pics.

Do you happen to have a picture of how the tape was mounted on the spoiler?

Sorry, no. But it was laid out in a very specific pattern. There are no less than four individual pieces of adhesive tape. And it had release tabs (for the tape cover) on the ends of the tape pieces so you could easily pull them off after you already start positioning the spoiler. Once you get the spoiler in position and ready to touch the trunk lid you are essentially working blind.

Just curious does your mirror covers have a flush fit? Mine seem to be a little thicker than oem therefore it has a lip

They are definitely thicker. I have the same ones. They don't fit flush. They look fine on their own, but if you compare to OEM, they stick out a fair amount, similar to your photo.

This isn't the best pic because it's from the other direction but if you look closely you can see that mine does not stick out as much as your does. I would wager that a misaligned tab or guide pin is keeping your outside edge fron seating properly. I would pull it off, check for bent tabs and reinstall. Worth a try.

I will double check mine tomorrow and take another pic if you think it might help you.

I would think that those particular mirror covers are thicker. Think they are the plastic parts with carbon fiber laid over the top. Should not be more than a couple of mm though. If sticking out more, I agree with the above post.

I've removed the caps and put them back on again it's still the same... It doesn't look like it can be "misaligned" or else it wouldn't fit. Around the side edges it's the same as oem just the top is a bit thicker.

I actually bought two one for my car and one for my mate's m135i... We installed his a few days after me and we lined them up properly and it's still has an edge like mine. His one is worst though as it was a defected item where there's a huge ripple on the top of the caps. Quite disappointed with it to be honest. Contacted rw carbon and just waiting to see what they'll do. I'd expect a replacement definitely for the defected one. Not sure about my one no point getting a replacement if all their products are slightly thicker than oem.

Would be great if you guys can measure how much thicker over the glossy part

I know exactly what you mean by slightly thicker but you have to realize that this is a replica and something like that should be acceptable. However, I can't imagine that oem would be different since its just a simple mold that is copied.
