Mine never slides down to the bottom.
There's a built in plastic thing on the belt, where your binder clip is.

Sorry this is not clear. I will try to post a better picture. The clip is below the buckle and just keeps the buckle from sliding down. It stays where it would be when you grab it and slide it up to your shoulder before pulling it across and down to latch it. The clip does not affect the retraction of the belt at all.

Huh. The little plastic button on mine is way further down so that the belt sits down close to the seat. The binder clip serves the same function but keeps the buckle up near my shoulder where it is easier for me to reach with my right hand when I reach back.

Here's BMW's version of the binder clip:
Clamping - part # 72111862636

No oil or coolant temp guage.
No oil dipstick.
Opening door handle twice to get out.
Stock run flat tires contibute to a harsh ride.

However, the car is great!

hate is a strong word, but don't like that there's no volume knob next to the idrive.

I have to take my hand off the wheel to do idrive and then back up for volume on the wheel or dash. It's an ergonomic mistake. (knobs raise and lower much faster than clicking up and down)

Speaking of spinning, I don't like that there's no sync for the A/C and that there's dual climate. Larger car I get it, (of course the larger cars have a sync option) but smaller car? It already has vent closers on the vents themselves. In general the A/C is too complex. It should just be like a house, set the temp and forget. It has 2 temps, fan speeds, vent controls, and the center heat or cool in addition. It's never 'just right'.
First world problems as they say (I'd love a self close trunk too personally).

Lastly I wish the Idrive screen had an amber text option. Everything is amber but the white lettering is glaring. Should also be amber. Just easier on the eyes. (Also, seats are all motorized but wheel is not?)

I mean...I'll live though.

I have programmed it to open all doors upon engine shut-off but still, I try getting out while engine is running.... end up looking like an idiot trying to get out of my own car

Four times in 2 years i have a right rear turn signal malfunction. It's getting redundant. Already been in 6 times for diagnosis and replacement.

This is a warranty item on earlier cars d/t inadequate grounding, there's a couple of long threads on here that have screenshots of the paperwork. If they haven't replaced the light unit yet then you are probably due, and if so, get them to check or replace the other side too, as it will go soon after.

Unfortunately it's been replaced once and rewired twice.

You mean annoying or repetitive. Not redundant.

I hate on cold mornings I get a thump, thump, thump when I turn my wheel while backing out of the driveway. I was told it has something to do with the struts warming up. Anyone know if this is true. At any rate it goes away once I move forward.

Are you rolling when you hear this noise? In my experience this is made by the front tire turned towards the center of the car skipping across the road surface (i.e. if you're backing up with the wheel turned near full lock right, the LF tire will make the noise).

It got more noticeable for me as my front tires wore. When I bought new tires (Michelin PS4S), it went away completely until the tires had 10-12k miles.

I assume it has something to do with the suspension geometry and the tire being harder in the cold.

Yes, I am rolling. Hmmm, that makes sense. My tires have close to 60% worn tread.

I didn't read this entire thread, but read a bunch. Many of the frustrating things with electronics can be coded as people have mentioned. BimmerCode was a great investment. I just ordered one of those seatbelt binders.
LOVE the car other than that.
Oh and one thing I can't do with coding is turn the damn 37 degree temp warning off Apparently it can't be done.....

This is a feature I first experienced with the E28 & E30. I don't see it being terribly distracting vs. actually being a help (unlike the iDrive start-up disclaimer).

800 miles on the OD and I've just noticed this the other day. Will notify dealer when I bring it in for its first service. It is not normal and won't accept that it's struts warming up. For now, I won't worry much. Just weird, cause when it happened I was like WTF!?!? Anyways, good to know it's not just me, lol

Didn't mean start a debate on whether it's good or not. I hate it and coded it out on the E46

If you don't care about having the doors locked while driving, if you go into vehicle settings and turn off both automatic locking and locking after starting to drive, you only have to pull the door handle once to get out.
