Subwoofers just died
HK sound system, car is a year old, woofers have basically gone offline while driving and listening to music.
Has this happened to anyone? Anything I can check for before taking it in to the dealer? |

Happened to me the other day. Had to let the car sit 5 minutes off and "reboot". A little concerned and will bring it up on next dealer visit. Keep us posted on what they say.

Add me to the list of subs not working. They worked fine when I left work for lunch, didn't work when I got back in the car to go back to work. Hopefully come back online when I get back in since I'll be spending about 4 hours in the car tonight.
HK system as well. |

+1 have also seen this. Left it sit for about 3-5 minutes when filling up the gas tank and it started working again.

I have the HK system in my 1 series and in summer, on hot days, I think the system over heats and then switches off ... I leave it for an hour or so and it works again.

Happened to me a few weeks ago....
Parked car and went by amp. Gave a slight push to all the connectors I could see. Started car and subs worked fine. Only has happened once in the two months I've owned the car. HK system also. Last edited by Hustlin; 08-17-2015 at 08:03 AM.. |

Did anything ever come of this one? My car is about 2 weeks old and it's already happened 3 times. Guess I'll check the connections before taking it in. Oddly enough, the "engine off" at idle or stop isn't working either.

Thanks. Yes, read that one yesterday as well. Mine's the 8AT though. I have 2 other bmw's with this feature and works fine (not that I use it much TBH) and my 2016 235 is a replacement for my 2015 that was recalled back in Aug/Sept and it worked on that vehicle.
Bizarre. In any case, I'll be taking it in for the mystery subwoofer issue so they can look at the stop/start thing at the same time. Dave

I've run into a similar problem in my 2015; Sometimes the subs don't turn on, or sometimes I only get sound out of the center channel speaker.
Pulling over and turning off the car, letting it sit for 2-5 minutes and then starting back up again always resolves the issue. I spoke to BMW about it, the dealer has looked at it, run a software update, etc. Unable to reproduce and I've been asked to drive to the dealership if and when it happens again. What I have noticed is that it only seems to happen when I'm connecting my phone to bluetooth or connecting via USB. Remains a mystery but now that I know I can fix it by power-cycling the car (it is a giant computer, after all) it's not that huge of a deal. |

Anyone ever get a fix for this subwoofer issue? It happens about once a week for me. The dealership is looking at it but they are mostly just scratching their heads.

My dealer struggled with it for an entire day only to report back that they couldn't figure it out or recreate it.
In any case after 3 or 4 occurrences it hasn't returned and it's been many months.
