6MT Gear Lube

I've ordered a 2018 M240i with the 6MT. This will be my 5th BMW. I've always maintained my cars as I have access to lifts at a nearby military base. I've always over-maintained my cars with 7000mile oil/filter changed, annual MT lube changes, etc.

So, what type of gear lube is in the 6MT? Is the tranny made by ZF? Redline's website isn't any help!

According to ZF the lube must be one one the following:
Pentosin FFL-3
BMW Oil No. 8322 2167 666 (MTF-LT-5)
Daimler Oil No. A 002 989 04 03 (Getriebeöl ET)
JLR Oil No. GX73-M1R564-AA.

Annual MT fluid change is a huge waste of time and money. I used to do it every 30-40k before and recently spoke to BMW private tech, he said not to bother with it at least till 50k. He owns a shop and never touched it in his 08 M3

I put RedLine D4 ATF in mine. I also did a Blackstone sample and got good feedback from 71,321 miles on the factory stuff. In 30,000 miles I'm doing another sample to compare.

It’s very rare for an auto manufacturer to make their own transmissions, GM, Mercedes do a great job making transmissions, sure there are more.

This may help concerning the 235

got my fluid changed. Feels noticeably smoother, especially on the 1-2 shift. Not dramatic but definitely noticable.
