228i msport warranty ending 6/2018. service advice!

Hi All,

My warranty is ending in June 2018 and I would like advice on possible service requests to be made at my local BMW dealership prior to this expiry date.
I have a 2014 228i M sport with about 26k miles on it.
Nothing has really be replaced on the car thus far -- perhaps brake pads by the original owner.

Do I need to have spark plugs, transmission fluid, brake fluid or any other services looked into? Any recommendations would help. This is my first BMW / first car owned and I'm not sure what I should be concerned about before warranty expires!

Thanks for your time

The dealer won’t replace things under warranty unless the parts’ condition meets specific criteria. As an example, the dealer won’t repkace brake pads unless the pads have less than xx mm of friction material remaining.

Indy Euro Tech

Go spend $150 at a Euro Tech BMW INDY and have them thoroughly go over the car and then take the list to the BMW dealer to replace the things that qualify.

You really shouldn't concern yourself about potential issues if the car had been solid - and the above advice is excellent. All I would add is...in your head or in your account, incrementally as time passes stow away some funds for maintenance - realizing a bmw is pricier then a Camry.

The car doesn't have enough miles to arbitrary start replacing things. If the car has problems then get them fixed. Make sure your breaks are good and try to get your last free oil change.

Once the warranty has expired, of course you're going to have to deal with whether you should buy an extended warranty and where you take your baby for service.

I am on my 3rd BMW and that means almost 20 years of driving, and over 200,000 miles of solid performance. I've never bought an extended warranty and I've made out OK.

What I did learn is that it is so important to find a good mechanic who knows BMW's if you are not going to use your dealer. I learned the hard way: at 85K on my '98 528 the water pump failed; I took it to the nearest mechanic and the repair lasted only 2 weeks because he did not use a BMW replacement part. But I then did some research and found a shop that only services BMW's. That shop was the only place I ever touched my BMW's (after the dealer warranty expired).

When my 228 goes off warranty, I'll be taking it to him for service.

Well, one simple freebie you can get is tell them that your windshield wipers are all smeary and they will usually replace them for free if it has been over a year since they replaced them last. Yea, I know it's not much, but BMW wiper replacements are really good and fairly expensive as far as wiper blades go.
