Dash cam wiring
Planning on permanent wiring for dash cam, using the fuse panel in engine compartment on passenger side. Are there any grommeted pass throughs in the footwell area behind the glove box? Or do I have to drill? Or any other suggestions for power take off under the dash. I am already using Mirror Tap for radar, and don't think there is any room for cam charger up there.

You can add a USB outlet to your glove box and then power your camera there. I used a Goluk it was easy plug and play.

forgive my ignorance, but does your solution, using USB outlet eliminate the power unit that came with the cam? That unit provides 5V & 1.5 A. ,I'm under the impression that standard USB output is 5V and only 0.5A. Is that enough current? Or will I be blowing fuses?

I routed mine to the trunk and used the fuse box there. Really not a hard/long process. I did it in under 1 beer.

Not sure what brand dashcam you're looking at, but I had a long enough cable with my Blackvue DR590 to run it from the back no problem. I did the install with a battery pack, but that shouldn't make a difference.
The post on my install is here: https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...4&postcount=11 |

I have a Blacksys CH100B hardwired to the passenger side engine bay fuse box. IIRC there was an existing route to pass the wire through. No drilling required.
