M240i Wheels - BC Forged RZ21

I had been wanting to add wheels to my M240i and researched on and off for about a year. The M240i offsets limit "off the shelf" choices under 20lbs and I did not want to add spacers.

Goals were:
Weight reduction.
Wider stance with no hint of poke
Wider wheels but keeping OEM tire spec for geometry match and no appearance of tire stretch.

Would have loved to go with BBS, have RGR Forged on my MINI for 6 years, 16 lbs. each, still perfectly true and love BBS Diamond Black finish but...
FIR Forged, no M240i choice.
LM Forged, pretty but heavy.
RF Forged, front offset requires a 5mm spacer.
CIR & CHR cast, attractive but same weight as OEM around 25 lbs.

So finally chose BC Forged built to spec wheels. Ordered from Mod Bargains in California. Purchase experience and customer service was top notch! Took about 6 weeks from initial purchase to my doorstep in Florida mounted & balanced. There was not one mark on them from mounting, balancing (Hunter Road Force with black wheel weights, nice touch) or shipping and tire manufacture dates were all fresh, February 2022.

Love the BC Forged wheels! The finish is flawless and wheels were perfectly machined to BMW 5 x 120 hub. The center bore diameter is so accurate that it is almost an "interference" fit.

RZ21 Specs:
Front 18 x 8 ET39
Rear 18 x 8.5 ET46

Weight reduction: Used the same scale before & after, measures in .5 increments. PSS & PS4S weigh the same new according to specs. Swapping from OEM BMW 719 wheels with PSS mounted & balanced (with 6/10s remaining tread) to BC Forged RZ21 with new PS4S mounted & balanced.... Not exact science but confirms roughly 19 lb. weight for the BC Forged RZ21…

Front assembled wheel/tire weight dropped from 45.5 Lbs. to 40.0 lbs.
Rear assembled wheel/tire weight dropped from 47.5 lbs. to 41.5 lbs.

Wider stance: Chose -6mm offset deviation from the OEM spec front and rear to accommodate the .5" extra width while keeping the same back spacing as the stock wheels. This locates the outer wheel/tire edge just inside the fender by a few millimeters to conservatively add stance without significantly altering geometry. This perfectly eliminated the OEM wheel "sunken" look without drawing attention of an exaggerated offset or "racer" look. My offsets are probably too conservative for a track set up but I have no intention of ever tracking the car since I'm almost 70 years old.

Wider wheels: I chose 18" over 19" knowing the OEM tire diameter could have been matched in 19" but wanted keep the 40/35 sidewall cushion. And chose .5" wider than OEM to perfectly center the tires over the wheels without pinch or stretch.

The wheels are perfect and the ride with the new PS4S (replacing PSS) is excellent.

Wheels look amazing! Thanks for the thorough write up, I’ve been wanting to go with bc forged wheels but at a loss when it came to width and offset. What color are the wheels and do you think 235/40 and 255/35 tires would fit without rubbing?

Thanks, love them! The color is gloss black and I cant say for certain if the larger tires would fit without rubbing but there are others that have gone bigger...
