Car had very little brake fluid

So I did my first brake fluid swap over the weekend and was surprised to see that I barely had fluid in the reservoir. I never got a brake light so I assume was barely meeting the minimum.

I checked my f80 and it was pretty close to max. Curious to see how much fluid other m235i owners have.

How many miles and how thick are your pads?
I guess as long as it's above the MIN mark.
Is your car manual transmission - clutch pedal ?

Just did my fluid few weeks back and my reservoir looked like your two top pics.

Manual trans here, was thinking about bleeding the clutch but was told it wasn't necessary as long as I'm not running it dry. And I haven't checked my pads yet, they're coming off this weekend for some ebc yellow

I wish I had a flashlight the first time around so I could have seen the fluid levels before I bled the brakes

I wonder if it has to do with it being a manual
