Hood Not Closing - 16 M235xi
I just took delivery of my 2016 M235xi last night, and went to install the new grills.
When I went to close the hood, it was very difficult to get the right side latch to close properly. I let the weight of the hood close itself, and the left side went in no problem, but not the right. I was able to drop the hood from higher up to get it to shut, but has anyone else experienced this issue? |

Is this after you installed the grills?
If it was you may not have the seal lined up properly after installation. Check out this video link at about the 4:58 mark (re:seal) Last edited by Kristalov; 11-13-2015 at 04:38 PM.. |

I had this issue and it was the spring/latch that got stuck. Got a screwdriver and managed to reset the spring/latch and the hood closed Fine afterward.

Found what the issue was...the latches have black clips that pull out to allow you to screw the latch in and out. Looks as though my right side needed to be screwed out a turn. All is well now!

How I close the hood on this car is that I release the pressure of the hood retainer by moving up and down the hood a bit and drop it. I think this is the proper way of doing it.
Don't push down the hood. |

Exactly what Reala stated is the best way to close the hoods on our cars...
On our M-Cars - you do need to give it some force when dropping it. M4 hoods are very light and can sometimes only get caught by the first latch and not the second. |
