Quick Question - VANOS Central Valve

Hi Team - I'd like to replace the 2 VANOS Central Valves on my 180,000 228i n26. Is it as easy as removing the actuators and then just backing out the old ones and putting in the new ones? Or will I mess up the timing chain? Meaning do I have to take a lot of the covers off, hold back on the fly wheel and then remove the valves? Thanks!
