Update... Police called today. They confirmed that they did recover prints in the car and they've identified the culprit.

As organized as I thought these are thieves are... someone who's been processed steals a car and leaves prints.

Sadly this is a really poor tracking solution. I was really tempted to get one for this exact purpose but it fails for a couple of reasons:

1) if any of the thieves has an iPhone it will alert them that there is an AirTag nearby that may be tracking them.

2) the AirTag itself will start beeping after a short while so the thieves will know where to find it.

I’m fully aware though that a thief KNOWING they’re being tracked may actually be a good security measure in itself but it just isn’t reliable for the reasons above.

Is LoJack still an option for locating a stolen car? I have no idea if it is (or was) available outside the States.
