Well someone scratched my car up

I have an aerial of where my car was parked, (this is an old google map)

if someone wanted to key a car surly you'd just wanna walk down the side, I can't see how somone could even have done this, but morning I parked it up and afternoon done.

I'm planning on getting the DA out and trying the whole thing, I have some meg's ultra fine compound and polish, any thoughts ? or detailer

aerial

I even parked where one side no-one can park next to me FFS, there like a cement pavement going down to grass ? and not even a public walk way, on the other side of the walk/path thing there was a PUP truck parked
I'll maybe have to see if there is any security footage

The dashcam with park mode killed my battery, (see my other threads) I didn't get round to putting the dash cam back in and probably would not have put park mode on.

But I was thinking of putting int on an external battery, forgot what there called now, cellnet, celltek, someting like that

yes I hear you

only here... LOL I jest I jest

I can't understand how someone can walk past either side of the car and do that, I've been keyed before it's usually low and slow, as there are office windows open.

I'm guessing something was dragged across it, I mean I guess someone could have keyed it, but it would be noticeable as hell

One vendor is saying needs to be repaired and repainted both the bonnet and fender, another one has advised he can take a look an offer some alternatives without repainting
I'll find out tomorrow

they have cameras everywhere BUT.................

"We have a camera on the inside which only catches a couple parking spots in front of the door. Based on this aerial shot it appears to be out of the view. I just checked the footage from that camera and unfortunately I can’t see the BMW. We are working along with each phase of the parking lot asphalt replacement to add some more cameras outside."

Sorry to see that someone has damaged your car, hopefully you can obtain enough info to catch them, such as someone wandering through the parking lot and caught on camera, but not entering the building.

I'm not sure where you are in Canada, but if in Alberta, Maranello (https://www.maranelloautorefinishing.ca/) are brilliant both from an assessment and repair perspective. By far the best quality work I've ever had done and a reasonable price, too, the only problem is that they are often booked up for many months in advance (although they did my assessment on the spot when I turned up there).

Saw a detailer near me (details to follow), he advised that he could sort it out couple of hours, wet sanding the worst part and take it from there, quoted me "a couple a dundred bucks) seems like a nice guy, the glimmer gets bigger

update: some good some not so good

so the detailer took it in and gave it a wash to check it out, he said how good do I want it, because if I wanted it perfect, only a respray, but he would be able to hide as much as he could but there were some pretty deep patches, and he went as far as he could without burning the clear coat.

I'm still unhappy with my OCD, but TBH, it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb, under flood lights you can see a line, in daylight just looking at the carm it's good, get it in the right light, you can see "some" of the line.

I'm going to leave it for summer and see how I feel, I "DONT" wanna respray the hood and fender, unless I get into an accident and can claim it off a 3rd party

So what was the damage, (just under $1000) , but let me break it down for you.

I had some curb rash on 2 wheels, there were a few other scratches on a couple of other panels also in order to blend it in he recommended a full polish, the surface was very heavily contaminated.

The end result "other" than the line was very good, the wheels were perfect, the whole body, except 2 lines, not a mark, and also no orange peel anywhere and the body was smooth as silk, her detailed the whole car inside and out.

He was also sending me pictures and video's as he was doing it. I tried taking some pics but it was hard, today it rained and under the flood lights was difficult, I'll maybe have another guy I know take a look at it and confirm they "can't" take it down any further.

so
1 wheel curb rash 100
1 wheel curb rash 120
hand wash 20
remove rough paint and contaminants and make smooth again 99
repair hood scratch 100
4 stage power polish 400
+tax
TBH the car really needed the additional TLC, a pity he couldnt get the full scratch out,
but as said he stopped and didnt wanna take it too far
