Frustration About End Of Warranty Inspection Request.......

Is it true dealers are not paid for End Of Warranty Inspections and doing only on a Courtesy Accommodation? Are they supposed to be paid for warranty work if anything wrong?

My 230i (bought new in 2018) had a scheduled inspection and road test both 1 year after purchase, and after 4 years (right when the factory warranty expired). The inspection after the 4 years should have, in theory, found any warranty repairs to address right before warranty expiration.

With that said, I'm also sure the dealership wants to get any warranty issues fixed, since they get reimbursed by BMW for any of the repairs, so they make money. Therefore, I think it's likely they do take the last inspection before warranty is over seriously, but may depend on the dealership too.

True dealers are not paid for End Of Warranty Inspection. And of course they will be paid for warranty work if they fix something.

Cmon do you think BMW would fund something where the dealer is going to actively look for problems days away from the waranty is expiring.

I think it’s more than fair BMW offers free maintenance, or do they still offer this?

My 240 end of warranty oil change/check up came due during covid. They were open but car had to stay a week....... not possible, I tried to get in 3 times. Covid winds down, my mileage was about 200 over the warranty. Asked if they would honor my check up..... NOPE. That cost them any future business from me.

In many cases, yes, as the dealer is paid by BMW to perform the service work. Depends on your dealer & relationship with the service advisor.

The 4-year free maintenance we had for the F30 has been cut to three years, last I heard.

I thought BMW will only pay for repairs and maint but not to do an inspection

^This. Plus dealers generally dislike doing warranty work because factory labor time/pricing is reduced. They'd much prefer out of warranty work.

If my dealer refused an EOW check, I'd be sure to take my out of warranty work elsewhere.

The inspection was so basic that there is 3 lines on the invoice.....tires tread is low, suspension, coolant and oil leaks no issue found.

They sent me a text message video where the tech says "no major oil or coolant leaks". Who should I believe?

I will bring the car to an independent shop to have a clear picture.

The warranty covers only what is actually broken, not wear and tear, so it is entirely likely that the report is completely accurate. No harm in taking it elsewhere, but it is unlikely that whatever they find will be covered.
2-ers have been among the most reliable cars around in the first 50K miles. Even Consumer Report says so!
