Need STICKY TIRES - Federal FZ-201 Anyone?
Hi Folks,
I'm sick of not being able to launch my 2er or get traction when hitting the throttle while at highway speeds. I'm running 265/35-18 PSSs in the rear and they break loose like crazy. Thus, I'm looking into something stickier... The Federal FZ-201. I won't be driving the car in the rain and plan on a few track days late this Summer and Fall. **Anyone have experience with the Federal FZ-201?" http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-265-35R1...NY0w3F&vxp=mtr I don't see much in the way of reviews for these things... Thanks! Last edited by Mywifes335; 05-18-2017 at 09:22 PM.. Reason: title change |

Perhaps... I know that a lot of E46 and E9x guys ran the Street version of the Federal tires - the 595 RS-R/RR. The early productions RS-Rs had a tread separation issue...

I have heard decent things about the RS-RR maybe look there. I know the Yoko R888r is a solid choice or maybe Nitto NT05 or NT01, I couldnt find a NT555R is a close enough size.
I can tell you continental extremecontacts are flippin horrible... They break loose as soon as boost hits. My next set will probably be a set of NT05. |

I am personally a huge fan of Federal's, I have used the ss595, 595evo's, and RSR's. Federal makes a great tire for the price.
I can't say anything for sure on these tires in particular.... But, let's be honest, you buy Federal tire knowing it may not be the best tire in its class but it sure will save you some money, so your bank account will appreciate it! I am sure these tires are good enough! |

I know the RT615 has gone through a few generations. When was it's last generation release date?

255 square. These are great prices. I think these came out about 7 years ago. Anyone know if they've revised them since??

I personally would spend the extra money and get something you know works.
If your going on track, good tires are worth several seconds. Get heat cycled nt01s if in your size from discount tire. Deal with the loud noise, and run great lap times. Re71s if in your size are pretty decent too, but I notice there is a shake and vibration at 80 mph from the tires.

To clarify, Im looking for the most straightline dry traction. Its almost become dangerous when boost hits part throttle when on local roads - the rear emd just goes sideways like a Stang. |

05's are a good daily/track tire.
You can't heat cycle them, they are much quieter, and pretty decent. I liked them. I'd compare them to the re71r's. If they are in your size, go for it. They are a very wide tire and tall, larger than the size they say they are so just be aware when ordering your size.
